Soy Kara, fundadora de Secret Safe Books. Siempre he sido un ratón de biblioteca, por lo que tallar lugares secretos dentro de los libros (¡comenzando con solo una cuchilla utilitaria!) Fue un pasatiempo muy adecuado. Pronto, Secret Safe Books se vendió tan bien que mi esposo John desarrolló una forma de hacer manualidades más rápido (y más hermoso) con una sierra de calar.

I'm Kara, founder of Secret Safe Books. My husband John and I wear all the hats in our business: from handcrafting each book to taking product photos to hand-wrapping orders for shipping. I have a background in art and John has a business degree. I'm more of a free spirt, and he's more pragmatic, so we're a great fit.
The first chapter of Secret Safe Books was written in 2009. After I graduated from art school (where I happened to take a fortuitous book arts class!), I had a long string of odd jobs while I worked on painting and drawing, including horse-carriage driving, counting out drill bits, teaching simple book-binding, selling luggage, working at Barnes & Noble. It was at my most recent day job as an art gallery attendant in 2009 that I started dreaming of making hollow books in between the "Please don't touch" moments at the museum.
I've always been a bookworm, so carving out secret spots inside books (starting out with just a utility blade!) was a very fitting hobby. After crafting several books, I popped a Nancy Drew Secret Safe Book for sale on Etsy just on a whim. Soon Secret Safe Books were selling so well that my husband John developed a way to craft more quickly (and more beautifully) with a scroll saw.
After the plot was clear that crafting hollow books would balance the books, John and I wrote off our day jobs to dive into Secret Safe Books as a full-time business. The story continues as you, dear booklover, go on with wishes to keep under cover your treasures and your secrets - dark, deep, or lighthearted, funny and sweet.
