American Expat Brings Quirky Japanese Vintage to Etsy
For 25 years Mike Fiorella worked as a consultant to international companies that sell in the Japanese market. Now he's bringing Japanese art and antiques to the world.
Mike's former clients included major labels like COACH, Tory Burch, Vera Bradley, Bruno Magli and totes-isotoner. Working on creative projects for these companies led him to an epiphany: the most satisfying moments came when collaborating with top-notch Japanese artists, craftsmen, and communications professionals.
"I love digging deep into Japanese arts and crafts traditions. The breadth and depth of the country's arts and aesthetics movements is incredible. Printmaking, ceramics, metal work, carpentry, silk and fabric production, packagings, you name it. The Japanese have deep expertise in an array of creative fields."
That's what has inspired Mike to expand his activities, launching enterprises that champion the best vintage and antiques that can be found in "Nippon."
"Spark Productions has created a new division called 'The Spark Galleries' whose sole purpose is to conceive, create and operate online stores that will connect world consumers to art and antiques that have been discovered in Japan," says Mike.
'Seleclectic' on Etsy has been a fantastic laboratory and testing ground, and learning there has led Mike and The Spark Galleries to launch several more stores on Etsy and as stand alone sites (see below).

Accepted payment methods
To buyers outside Japan and the United States (especially those in Europe):
We do not charge you for import duties, sales tax, VAT and the like. Every nation has different policies in these matters. Please know your own country's rules regarding import duties and other taxes. These are not included in your purchase price and might be assessed by your own government at the time of delivery.
If you refuse a delivery because you do not want to pay import duties or other taxes/fees and your shipment is returned to us we reserve the right to refund the cost of your purchase minus a 20% re-stocking fee and minus the amount you paid for delivery.
If you would like to absolutely minimize delivery costs, we can have your order transported by regular air or surface mail, but please note that these methods are uninsurable and cannot be tracked. Consequently we cannot be responsible for items that are lost or damaged when using regular air or surface mail.
Refunds and Exchanges
As such, scratches, dings, stains, soiling, tears, fading, cracking, discoloration or other imperfections are common amongst products in our lineup. We try to accurately represent our goods through photos and product descriptions, but it would be impossible to fully detail the imperfections of each and every item.
Please consider your purchase carefully before buying and send us a convo if you have any questions. At this time we are unable to accept returns and make refunds based on dissatisfaction with purchased products.
* We do our best to research each item before acquiring it for our inventory. If a product is attributed to a specific artist, manufacturer or time period, or is described as being manufactured with specific materials or processes, it is because we believe that the description is accurate. Almost all items are acquired in Japan through sources such as art galleries, art dealers, private collections, antique or vintage wholesalers, estate sales, other auctions and antiques and collectibles conventions. However, the items we acquire almost never come with certificates of authenticity or details of provenance. While we believe our descriptions are accurate, it is impossible for us to guarantee this. Again, please consider your purchase carefully before buying since we are unable to accept returns or make refunds -- except in the rare case in which an item has been damaged during transport.
