5. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
This is a special place where doctors and researchers work in concert to treat and prevent cancer and other catastrophic diseases afflicting children. The Association is the world leading nonprofit funder of Alzheimer research. Along with outreach, education, support groups and more staff and volunteers work to provide care and support for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias. Only existing since 2008 this young organization is all about one thing - finding a cure for cancer. They are different in that their funds go directly to research, and that is even done in a unique way. They've created a model where researchers can truly collaborate rather than compete. Add their "Dream Teams" of researchers into that model and let the fireworks begin. We are hopeful that such efforts produce immeasurable results. Take a stand and visit www.standup2cancer.org.
