Announcement   Serenity Wreaths are not your ordinary wreaths, in part because of their aesthetics but mostly because of the way they have been grown, harvested, and dried. I use only organic farming practices and harvest flowers selectively so only the most deserving flowers are used. Although all flowers can be preserved through drying, many of them turn unattractive unless chemicals are applied. I have chosen only those plants that maintain their integrity when air-dried. All my garden flowers may not have originated from sources using organic growing methods. Once planted in my garden, all flowers are grown organically.

About

"I feel fortunate that I am able to live my life the way I live with my flowers, simply and joyfully."

Passion+Creativity=Artistic Energy. Some days it seems that my energy is endless while growing and drying my flowers. My personality trait of being slightly obsessive provides an extra boost.

"Oohs and ahhs" are commonly heard around our house as creating dried flower wreaths involves many steps and avenues for discovery are everywhere.

Daily journeys to my flower garden find newly opened buds to harvest. As I garden using only organic methods, I spend a lot of time with my flowers.

Perennials become old friends as they come back every year to say hello. Excitement mounts when annuals that were planted from seed show signs of vigor. Will they really look like they did in my spring seed catalogs (that barely made it from the mailbox without being opened)?

I can no longer hike without finding foliage that becomes an experiment to see if it will dry properly without the use of chemicals. You see, I don't use anything artificial in my wreaths except for wire and some glue. There are no toxic sprays used to preserve my flowers.

My greatest joy comes from discovering how a flower will change during the drying process. Scabiosas shrink while centaurias cluster up, marigolds darken, lagurus ovatus lighten. Amazing flowers transform into an expansive palette for making wreaths. Stored in dark cardboard boxes, my little treasures of dried flowers wait until they are chosen to be part of a wreath.

Although I've enjoyed many creative endeavors in my life, I've finally found the one that fills me with complete joy. Inspirations around me grow and change with the seasons making their magic even more powerful. I'm continually grateful that my family and I are able to live in the countryside of the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

From seed to dried flower, my wreath adventure stays full of new discoveries. Each new "find" lets me learn more about the world of seed propagation, growing organically, drying flowers and wreath designing. I also now have a REALLY good reason to be creative and make dried flower wreaths. Because I've expended so much energy to get my flowers ready for their performance in a wreath, I can't ignore them, can I?

One of my passions is flowers. I make dried flower wreaths and during the long process, I am reminded of the value of being creative rather than the outcome. I want success but I'm in no hurry.
