Announcement    All of the sudden it is summer in Vermont. We seem to have skipped spring and jumped right into summer! I am busy making lots of crochet items so there is a bit of a wait for these items but you can still order them or contact me to ask how long it will take. Crochet takes time as it is all done by hand and each item is custom made for you! The same goes for my bags and quilts. Each bag is made to fit your needs - fabric choice, strap sizes, zippers or no zippers, pockets, etc. If you would like to see what fabrics I have available, you can view them on my facebook page in the albums section or just message me and I can send pictures:

I still have some bags and table runners ready to go if you need a last minute gift. These can be shipped out within one business day.

I am still making and selling masks. The end seems to be near and hopefully we will no longer need them soon!

I am working on filling up my shop again with things that offer beauty and comfort for your home and family. After such a difficult year, I feel we need all the love, beauty and comfort we can get. Homemade gifts offer all of this. There is so much loving care put into each gift and the recipient will have something that has been made just for them. So welcome!

Welcoming you to my shop is like welcoming you into my home. I love making quilts, bags and crochet and getting to know my customers in the process. I love that each item is unique and made just for you.

Quilting is my first love. Homemade quilts are like a painting and fabric is my canvas. I started making quilted bags so that you could have a quilt that you bring everywhere with you. Each bag is constructed like a quilt and then quilted on a home machine. This makes each bag look like a piece of art and unique.

I customize bags to fit your needs. Need a bag for a special trip or for a specific hobby? Just ask. I also make custom bags for wheelchairs and walkers and can adapt the bag to fit your needs. Bags usually take about a week to make.

Quilts make a great gift that will last forever. I can make a quilt in any size. Baby quilts and lap quilts are the most versatile and affordable and can be customized with embroidery too. Quilts can take up to 2-4 weeks to make depending on the size and complexity of the quilt. I will work with you to pick a size, pattern and fabrics that work best for your quilt. If you have a specific pattern or idea, I can work with that too.

Any of the fabrics listed on this page can be used for quilts, bags, masks, etc. If you would like to see what fabrics I have available, just ask or go to my Facebook page (Sew Crazy in Vermont, click on photos, then albums - mask and fabric choices or copy and paste the link below). I have tried to upload pictures of as many fabrics as possible but I have so many it is not possible to upload all of them at this time. That means if you don't see what you want, ask!

The same goes for my crochet items. If you don't see what you want, ask if I can make it. Most of my crochet items are made to order. Crochet takes a lot of time! I can usually make a doll or stuffed animal in 1-2 weeks. Larger items will take longer. If you would like to see more of my crochet items, go to my Facebook page, Elaine Morse (go to my page, click on photos then albums and the creatures from the Morse Zoo or copy and paste this link):

About SewCrazyVermont

Sales 490
On Etsy since 2019

What do you do when you live in Vermont where it snows 9 months of the year? You create to keep from going sew crazy!

I have been sewing and crocheting all my life but learned quilting 25 years ago. Living in Vermont means there are many days when you just want to stay inside and quilting has kept me sane during those long winters. It also means you need color in your world for those dark dreary days and I love color! My quilts are bright and colorful and unique since they are one of a kind. I also love fabric from other countries and will often use Australian or African fabrics in my quilts.

When my mom passed away several years ago, I realized that I was the only one in the family that she taught to knit and crochet. I didn’t want this to end so I started crocheting animals and dolls and all kinds of bright and fun stuff.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I do custom orders so if you don't see what you want, just ask. You can click on contact shop owner or request a custom order.

Sizing details

If you aren't sure what size you should order, please contact me. I am happy to help with sizing and can give you measurements as well as recommendations for the right size. I want your item to fit!

Care instructions

Masks - machine washable and dryer safe.
Crochet items - best to wash in cold water by hand and line dry. They can be washed on gentle in the washing machine but NEVER PUT THEM IN THE DRYER! This will ruin it.
Bags - these are durable! Machine wash and dryer safe!
Quilts - machine washable and dryer safe. However, the more often you you wash it and dry it, the more wear and tear it will cause. I suggest machine wash on gentle and line dry.
Pillows - the cover can be removed and washed. Photos are machine washable. I suggest line drying to prevent wear and tear. The pillow insert can also be washed on gentle. I suggest drying it on gentle then fluffing it back into shape.

Any questions about care of items, please ask!

Gift wrapping and packaging

I do a simple gift wrap (tissue paper and ribbon) at no extra charge.

Why do crochet items cost so much? Isn't it just a stuffed animal?

Crochet is done entirely by hand. It can take anywhere from 5 to 30 hours to make an item! Each item is made with love and care. I also take care to use the best materials for the longest life. Each crochet item is unique and one of a kind. It is worth the extra cost to give someone such a special and unique gift.

Why do quilts cost so much

A quilt is composted of pieces of fabric that are sewn together in a complex and unique pattern. The quilt is then layered with batting and a backing fabric and quilted together with a unique design to hold the layers together and to add artistry and character to the quilt. The materials (fabric, thread, batting) alone can cost from $50-$300 depending on the size of the quilt and the pattern. Making the pattern, adding the layers, quilting the quilt and then binding the edges can take anywhere from 20-60 hours of labor. A handmade quilt is an item that will last for a lifetime and will be made with the recipient in mind. It is a gift that will last forever.

Custom and personalized orders

T-shirt quilts require a great deal of labor. Each t-shirt must be carefully cut by hand to make sure that the logo or picture is preserved. Each t-shirt must then be reinforced with interfacing so that it does not stretch out. I then need to figure out how to arrange all of the t-shirts so that they will be incorporated in the quilt (many t-shirts will be different sizes) and then sew them together. I also add batting, a backing fabric and quilt the layers together to hold everything together and to add artistry to the quilt as well as making it more durable.
A t-shirt quilt will last a lifetime and be a gift that the recipient will love!
