Sew What? Quilt Shop, is located in Ahmerst, New York near the intersection of Rt’s 5 & 78. We opened our doors more than 28 years ago; although it feels like yesterday.

Sew What? carries a large selection of 100% cotton fabrics. You can expect to find everything from florals, calicos, batiks, novelties, children’s prints. We carry an extensive collection of the latest books as well as some out of print and hard to find books. Our knowledgeable staff is eager to help you plan your quilt.

We are pleased to carry 100% cotton fabric lines from many companies. We have a full line of notions as well as plenty of Fat Quarters to choose from. We ship your items quickly and carefully. Stop back often to see our ever changing available fabrics. We're happy to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to send a convo!

We accept PayPal, credit cards, debit cards, and Etsy gift cards. (Please note - you do NOT need to have a Paypal account to make a payment via Paypal. With Paypal you have the option of paying with a credit card, bank account, debit card or with a Paypal balance. PayPal is a secure third party payment processing company.)
Shipping
SHIPPING POLICIES

WE REFUND EXCESSIVE SHIPPING CHARGES - When putting multiple items into your shopping cart the Etsy system can sometimes inflate the shipping costs. On Etsy, shipping cost is difficult to keep accurate. Don't fret!
You can rest assured, we will happily refund excessive shipping payments, whether you ask or not.

We also willingly set up custom orders for those who prefer that method; that way the shipping will be accurate at the point of purchase.

If you'd like us to set you up a custom order simply send a list (via convo) of the items you'd like and we'll get it set up for you quickly.

REGARDING FIRST CLASS SHIPPING:

- 1 Fat Quarter Ships for $3.00
- Up To 2-1/2 Yards of Fabric: Can ship First Class Mail, although we recommend Priority Mail or adding Shipping Insurance to your order.
- 3 - 10 Yards of Fabric Ships via Priority Mail for $7.50
- 11 - 20 Yards of Fabric Ships via Priority Mail for $13.65

***Please Note - First Class Mail does not include insurance or any guarantee of delivery from the USPS. While you will save money up front, WE DO NOT REFUND OR RE-SHIP fabric for lost or wrongly delivered orders due to USPS errors. We can add insurance for a small additional fee if you choose and we highly recommend it.

RETURNED MAIL
If your package is returned to us because of delivery issues (wrong address or unable to forward, for example) we will send you a convo to let you know we have received it. We will ask for a corrected/updated address and include an invoice for you to pay for additional shipping so we can send it out again. If we don't hear from you within 7 days we will cancel the order and refund the cost of the fabric. We are not responsible for returning the original postage, as we paid the postage to have it sent out to the address you provided.

LOST PACKAGES
It's unfortunate, but it happens occasionally. We cannot control the USPS and once your package leaves our hands we have to count on them following through properly. If they lose your package we will do what we can to help you deal with the Post Office. They do not guarantee First Class mail and will only offer to do a search for those items. We recommend adding insurance to your order or upgrading to Priority Mail.

Priority Mail packages are insured and we will help you file a claim and get reimbursed or replacement fabric. Again, we are at the mercy of the Post Office once packages leave our store in the hands of the USPS mail carrier.

INSURANCE

USA CUSTOMERS - If you order 3 yards or more, your order will automatically be shipped Priority Mail and will be insured. We are not responsible for USPS loss of small packages (of less than 3 yards) sent First Class Mail unless you request insurance for your package.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE - If you purchase 5 yards or less, we ship will First Class International and will refund any shipping overages. First Class packages are not insured and we are not responsible for loss or customs delays.
** If you want your package insured, please contact us.
When purchasing more than 6+ yards, your package will be shipped Priority Mail and will be insured.

CUSTOMS & DUTIES
We are not responsible for any duty, taxes or other fees to get your purchased fabric to you. Any additional fees that may be charged at/for border crossings are your responsibility.

WE REALLY TRY HARD
We will make every effort to ship your order accurately using the quickest and most affordable method.
Our goal is to get you your fabric as soon as possible, so once your payment is received, we will ship your order within 1 business day (holidays excluded).
Weekend orders begin shipping the following Monday (holidays excluded).

Additional policies and FAQs
WHAT IF I WANT TO ADD SOMETHING TO MY ALREADY PURCHASED ORDER?
Don’t worry if you forgot to add something to your shopping cart. Go ahead and place a second order and send us a message to combine your orders. We will combine the order if possible and refund any excess shipping.


WHY IS MY FAT QUARTER (or other items) SHIPPING SO HIGH?
Etsy adds shipping to each item you put in your cart. Fat Quarters are no exception.
We will refund all shipping overages when we cut, package and purchase postage for your order. Alternatively, you may feel free to send us a list of items and quantities and we will cheerfully create a custom order listing just for you with accurate shipping. This pertains to any other as well. :)

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY ORDER!
While we try very hard to be perfect, we are, in fact, human. We do occasionally make mistakes. While we hope there is no need, simply send us a convo letting us know what the problem is and we will do everything we can to fix the mistake.


IS THERE MORE OF THE FABRIC I WANT?
We don't always list our total available yardage online. Please convo with the fabric and yardage you're looking for and we will get back ASAP, usually the same day, to let you know if we have what you need.


WHEN WILL YOU SHIP MY ORDER?
We often ship orders the Same Day. If the mail has already left for the day we within 1 Business Day, except for holidays. Weekend orders are shipped on non-holiday Mondays.


HOW DO I ORDER MULTIPLE YARDS OF A FABRIC?
We cut fabric orders of more than 1 yard as one continuous piece, unless asked not to. If you would like 3 yards for example, select "YARDS" from the "Fabric Cut" Drop Down Menu and then select "3" from the "QUANTITY" Drop Down menu and add to cart. We automatically send one continuous piece of fabric 3 yards long. Shipping overages will be refunded.


HOW ARE PANELS SHIPPED?
All panels are pre-cut to size. If you order 2 panels you will receive two seperate pieces of fabric.


WHAT IF THE FABRIC I PURCHASE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE?
We work very hard to keep the online inventory in line with our in-store inventory. Sometimes an item will sell out and be purchased on Etsy before we can adjust the inventory online. In this case we will either convo for instructions or refund, or both. We sure hope and try to not have this happen!


ARE YOUR FABRICS AVAILABLE IN FLANNEL?
No, we sell only premium dress weight 100% cotton fabrics.

We take pride in our fast and accurate shipping and try really hard to leave you satisfied. But, we are only human and occasionally, mistakes happen. If you do have a problem, please remember that we are human beings, and try to be kind. We will address your problem as soon as possible.
