I began sewing in high school and got hooked. Learning new patterns, sewing machine features, collaborating and completing projects are wonderful facets of the creative process. One of my last projects before a 20 year hiatus was log cabin pattern quilt-even now I remember the jewel toned velvets that I selected, cut and pieced.

In 2019, I made a quilt for my husband on our 13 anniversary. One of my favorite quilt shops, Sew Creative in Ashland Oregon, featured a kit with Australian Aboriginal prints. I dove in, learned new techniques, remembered the fear of making the first cut, took a class on quilt binding and three months later had an anniversary gift that felt significant and a new community at my local quilt shop, Honey Run Quilters/Cathy's Sew & Vac. I haven't stopped sewing since then and my projects are evolving and my fabric stash is growing!
