About

Sew it Seams according to me....

Growing up, I remember many an occasion where I would wake up from a restful night's sleep to the gentle hum of my Mom's sewing machine running in the living room. My Mom is an amazing seamstress and would stay up all night long to finish our Halloween costumes, mend holes in our jeans or construct various costumes my sister and I roped her into making for our high school theatre productions.
A little over a decade ago, my parents decided to move out of state, and I suddenly was struck with the paralyzing question of who would mend my jeans for me now?? My Mom had taught me the basics of sewing, but I had no sewing machine, and my instructor was about to be a 3 hour plane ride away. For my birthday that year, my parents got me a gorgeous, Vintage Aqua, refurbished 1960s Singer! I feel in love with it! From that moment on, I was hooked! I made myself my very own Halloween costume that year and starting sewing various projects.
A year or so later, I made my very first diaper bag for a close friend, who was expecting his first child. He and his wife could not stop talking about how much they loved the bag and how they used it all the time. Soon enough, more friends started having babies and I began making alterations and perfecting the pattern as I started passing around my bags as gifts. Finally, word spread to a co-worker who asked if I would specially design a bag for his expectant wife in her favorite colors. He had seen the original bag I had made and told me how great it was and that I really should start a business. I started working on his special order, and all the while the business bug started growing in my brain. I enjoyed sewing, and I wondered, why not turn that passion into a fun hobby?
From there, I began collecting valuable info from the moms who already owned my bags and made alterations to get a better and more user friendly product. The products grew from there as more people bought my "diaper bags" to use for a carry-all. They morphed into All-purpose bags. My Mom cleverly came up with my shop name and after a bit of planning, I set out to create my very own Etsy shop. Picking coordinating fabrics and watching them transform into these beautiful bags still amazes me every time I complete one. I love the creative process, and every one of my bags is made with great care and love. I hope you enjoy my bags as much as I have enjoyed creating them.

I welcome custom orders on the items currently available in my shop. If there is a specific fabric pattern you like, or, if you would like me to pick out fabrics with you and/or offer suggestions, please feel free to contact me. I would love to create one of my designs customized to your tatses!

I am not able to make brand new items that are not currently available in my shop on a custom basis. I want to put the best products out for my customers and I do not sell items that have not had plenty of hands on testing and experience behind them.
