Hand Embroidered and Upcycled Originals

Durham, North Carolina 1 Sale On Etsy since 2012

Announcement   Hand embroidered and hand smocked originals for your children and your home. Much of what I make is re-made or re-fashioned from vintaqe fabrics, sheets, tablecloths, or napkins and gently used clothing. Thus they are unique items. Many times I have enough of a textile to make another dress or pillow cover from, but sometimes there is not quite enough. For custom orders I will be able to show you the fabrics I have available that may be similar to the one you liked. Let me know what I can make for you!

About

Making Magic

All items are made lovingly by me. I work with old linens; sheets, napkins, tablecloths and gently used clothing and give them a new life. Some of the textiles are actual antiques, some vintage.

I recycle, repurpose, upcycle, reuse, remake - its too much fun not to! I lust after new fabric too. Dotted Swiss, Irish linen, dupioni silk - all sound like dessert names to me and make me drool.

I embroider because I must. I love the feel of the thread, the magic of a work in progress, the zen of of concentrated sewing, the joy of a completed piece of work.

I choose to make childrens' clothes because babies are pure joy, toddlers are a wonder and I want to see them in clothing that echos their inner beauty.

If you have a vintage linen or a piece of fabric you love I hope you will let me make something for you or your child.

I learned about the magic of sewing when I was very little. One morning my rag doll had new clothes! I had no idea one could MAKE things using bits of fabric and needle & thread. My mom taught me to sew simple things and I fell head over heels!
