Christine custom made me a beautiful black phone case. It is really well made, and is perfect to hold my phone, keys and wallet - I use it everyday, and it is especially useful for when out of an evening, and you want to keep your belongings close and safe. My international delivery arrived quickly and safely. Christine was friendly, quick to respond, and professional throughout.

About

Handmade Bags and More

This business came about when my husband suffered a stroke in 2006 and I needed to stay close to home to help him. Sewing and typing are my best skills but at that stage in my life, I didn't need more clothes--I was living mostly in jeans and sweatshirts—and typing jobs didn’t provide the calming diversion I was looking for. I have been sewing since I was about 4 years old, starting with doll clothes like many people. In the beginning it was frustrating because my mother insisted I do everything "right." Her insistence paid off and for most of my life I made all my own clothes and lots for others, including wedding dresses for 3 nieces and several friends.

I started experimenting with purses because I loved the colorful prints and designs I saw in those expensive designer bags found in boutiques and upscale stores. I expanded to diaper bags when a niece was having a baby and I needed a shower gift. The baby blankets came along for the same reason.

In addition to allowing me to indulge my fabric addiction without guilt, getting back into sewing this way has been a great joy and a wonderful way to combine my love of fabric with creating useful things people seem to enjoy. Opening an Etsy shop seemed a logical step after a couple of years selling to friends and relatives and enjoying some success at local craft fairs. No one was more surprised than I was when orders started coming in! It kept me busy and was a good outlet from the stress that was a natural result of being a full-time caregiver. With the loss of my husband in June of 2014. I have come to appreciate even more how important it has been to have started a business late in life that continues to bring me such satisfaction.

Hello and welcome to my Sewtype policies. The name Sewtype came about when I first joined ebay and was thinking about the two things I enjoy doing and am good at.

If you have any questions, you can convo me through Etsy or by email at Christine [!at] ChristineElizabeth.net. http://www.christineelizabeth.net is an outdated website where you can still learn more about me and my business and see examples of the kinds of things I have made. Since Yahoo changed their system some time ago, I have not been able to make changes to the site. I keep it because my business email is connected to it.

I have a Flickr site showing choices for pre-quilted fabrics only. You can view them here:

I only sell through Etsy and at local craft fairs.

You can follow me on Facebook at Christine Elizabeth.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Paypal is my preferred method of payment. You can use your credit card with paypal without creating a Paypal account. I also accept Etsy gift card and direct checkout with a credit card.
Shipping
Ready to ship items are mailed within 2-5 business days from your order unless otherwise noted. Within the US I ship priority mail flat rate with delivery confirmation when that is the most economical. Depending on the size of your bag(s), I might choose first class or even parcel post. My goal is to keep mailing and packaging charges as reasonable as possible. Sometimes the shipping fee is my best guess based on past experience for a particular item. If the advertised shipping charge exceeds the actual charge by more than one dollar, I will refund the excess.

International orders are shipped First Class or parcel post. Delivery confirmation is not available for international mailing and you can expect your package to take anywhere from seven to twenty one days. Be patient!

Insurance is included with packages sent priority mail. Most small items are sent first class and insurance is optional. If you would like to add insurance, please contact me before making your purchase. Insurance rates will be provided upon request. Items lost, stolen, or damaged in transit are not eligible for refund or replacement if not insured.
Refunds and Exchanges
Of course it is my hope that you will be happy with your purchase! I try to make my descriptions as detailed as possible with photographs from all the angles. But I understand that occasionally something turns out to be not quite what you expected. If you are unhappy with your purchase for ANY reason, please contact me so we can work out a solution, either through a refund or replacement of the item. I would ask that you give me the chance to make things right before leaving feedback.

I will accept returns on regular sales as long as they are returned in new unused condition within 7 days of receipt. Once I receive your returned package, I will refund the full purchase price excluding shipping fees. As the buyer, you are responsible to pay return shipping fees. If you do return an item, be sure to get a delivery confirmation number. I also recommend that you get insurance.

Sales are final on custom designs and custom ordered fabrics.
Additional policies and FAQs
A custom order generally means that you want a bag as advertised/pictured in a different fabric that I have in stock. It could also mean minor changes like a longer (or shorter) strap. Add $1.00 custom fabric charge for smaller items like cell phone cases, etc., when you choose a different fabric than those ready to mail choices.

Minor design changes may incur an additional charge, depending on what it is. I am not able to accept orders for custom designs that are not minor variations on the styles I have in stock.

Many of my patterns were designed to be used especially with pre-quilted fabrics. Among those are the Mini Hobo, Katie Everyday Bag, smart phone and glasses cases. At the present time, custom order bags are available only in pre-quilted fabrics shown on my Flickr Page here:

www.flickr.com/photos/52533856@N03/

I rarely order more than 3 yards of any one fabric pattern because that allows me to offer you lots of variety and most of my bags are one of a kind. If you don't find something you like among my fabric selections, I am happy to order it for you from on line vendors, especially Etsy sellers. There is an additional $10 charge for custom order fabrics. I am also happy to make up a bag from fabric you provide. I will deduct 20% of the purchase price for a full size bag made from fabric you supply. I regret that I am not able to research fabric to help you with your choice :(
