Mi colección de joyas contemporáneas está diseñada y creada por mí en las Tierras Altas del noroeste de Escocia, específicamente en un pequeño rincón llamado Assynt, que es posiblemente una de las partes más bellas e impresionantes del mundo. Es desde aquí que he absorbido una comprensión profunda de mi entorno, con el paisaje y el clima dando un suministro interminable de estimulación visual y sensorial. ¿Conoces ese viejo dicho, 'cuatro estaciones en un día'?, bueno, ¡creo que se originó aquí!
Las piezas que hago reflejan los colores y los estados de ánimo de mi entorno, pero conservan la elegancia de las joyas contemporáneas fáciles de usar.
Toda una vida de creación me ha llevado a este punto, comenzando con el tiempo que pasé en la Escuela de Arte de Gray en Aberdeen, donde estudié cerámica. Durante muchos años he trabajado como artista para una exitosa empresa de cerámica, por lo que cada día ha sido creativo. Sin embargo, al igual que con muchos tipos creativos, mi tiempo libre fuera del trabajo diario también se ha consumido con la búsqueda de más y más cosas para hacer y hacer.
El cambio a la arcilla polimérica fue una revelación, ya que descubrí las posibilidades disponibles con este medio que anteriormente había pasado por alto. Ahora, la comprensión de que tengo a mi disposición un medio colorido, sensible y duradero me ha abierto un mundo completamente nuevo que es muy emocionante.
Ahora estoy encantado de hacer para mis clientes, una gama que muestra simplicidad, elegancia y originalidad. La naturaleza del medio permite el desarrollo de innumerables combinaciones de colores con el beneficio de detalles delicados y una gran durabilidad. Además de esto, los artículos son livianos y muy fáciles de usar. Creo que cada pieza será igualmente adecuada para el día y la noche. Mi objetivo es ser audaz con el color y sutil con su aplicación y creo que esto dará como resultado una pieza que te hará sentir tan especial e individual como cada artículo que usas.
Tengo mucha suerte de contar con el apoyo y el aliento de mi encantador esposo, James, que está dispuesto a abordar muchos de los elementos técnicos y de TI que aún me desconciertan. Él atiende pacientemente mis muchas peticiones extrañas mientras mi mente revolotea como una mariposa distraída, ¡siempre en busca de cosas más hermosas!
Hacer esta gama me está dando la oportunidad de trabajar desde casa en un negocio que nos ayudará a apoyarnos en nuestra pequeña y muy especial parte del mundo.
My collection of contemporary jewellery is designed and created by me in the very north west Highlands of Scotland, specifically in a tiny little corner called Assynt, which is arguably one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring parts of the world. It is from here that I have absorbed a deep understanding of my surroundings, with both the landscape and the climate giving a never-ending supply of visual and sensory stimulation. You know that old saying, 'four seasons in one day'?, well, I think it originated here!
The pieces I make reflect the colours and moods of my surroundings, but retain the elegance of easy to wear contemporary jewellery.
A lifetime of creating has led me to this point, starting with my time spent at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen where I studied Ceramics. For many years I have been employed as an artist for a successful ceramics company, so every day has been a creative one. As with many creative types though, my spare time away from the day job has also been consumed with the search for more & more things to make and do!
The move to polymer clay was a revelation as I discovered possibilities available with this medium I had previously overlooked. Now, the realisation that I have at my disposal a colourful, responsive and durable medium has opened up a whole new world to me which is so exciting!
I am now thrilled to be making for my customers, a range which displays simplicity, elegance and originality. The nature of the medium allows the development of myriad colourways with the benefit of delicate detail and great durability. Added to this the items are lightweight and very easy to wear. I believe each piece will be equally suitable for daytime and evening wear. My aim is to be bold with colour, and subtle with its application and believe this will result in a piece which will make you feel as special and individual as each item you wear.
I am very lucky to have the support and encouragement of my very lovely husband, James, who is willing to tackle many of the technical and IT elements that still mystify me. He patiently attends to my many strange requests as my mind flits about like a distracted butterfly, forever on the search for more beautiful things!
Making this range is giving me the opportunity to work from home on a business that will help support us in our small, and very special, part of the world.
