About me:

Hello and welcome! I'm Shannon Howard, a Los Angeles based fine art photographer with a passion for creating beautiful pieces of artwork that bring positive energy into the living, working, and dining environments of others. All of my photography is inspired by the vibrant dynamics, natural features, colors, and culture of my favorite coastal beach communities and other cities around the world in which I've lived or spent time.

I love life, am infinitely thankful for each new day, and have a deep desire to bring beauty and joy into the lives of others through my photography. I believe that creating a home and work environment that represents who we are, the places we love, and the feelings/thoughts that we want to experience can enhance our wellness, bring positive energy into our lives, and help us to move towards fulfilling our dreams and goals.

Coastal inspirations...

I have always adored the coastal regions of the U.S. and the feeling of the towns that are built there. I feel that my very favorite coastal cities and beachside communities are places where uniqueness and originality are celebrated. I've experienced that they naturally evoke two very distinct moods that many of us are often seeking: The first is an energizing, creative and dynamic mood and the second is a rejuvenating, relaxing and revitalizing sensation for the soul. My photographs will almost always fall into one of these two categories as I work to capture and bring those wonderful life elements to people's places of living and working.

About my photography style:

I adore digital photography. I have found that the artistic freedoms that are available through digital editing allow me to fully share how I look at and see the world around us, rather than merely how the camera sees it. I love enhancing and playing with the color, texture, light and perspective to bring out the mood and emotions of the subject that inspired me to capture the image. Sometimes this means creating bright, bold, color-saturated photographs designed to energize and inspire and other times it means fading, distressing or texturizing to evoke a calming, relaxing feeling. I spend a great deal of time working with each photograph and shaping it until I feel that the piece has exactly the right artistic feeling that it deserves, very much the way a potter works with clay on a wheel. All of my photography is professionally printed on premium crystal archival paper with either a luster or metallic finish for exceptional quality.

Nothing makes me happier than when an image I create has a positive impact of some sort on another human being. I believe that we are all connected and we have a responsibility to lift one another up and enhance one another's lives in whatever way we can while on this planet. It is my hope that my work will resonate with you and bring joy to your environment.
