Lampwork also known as flame- or torchwork is the ancient art of using a flame to melt, shape and create beads or sculpture from glass. Here you will find my glass creations using my torch and this technique.

FAQ

Torch -- a table top torch with a propane and oxygen mix used to melt glass at temperatures reaching 1600F to 2000F.

Kiln anneal -- to hold glass beads within a kiln for an allotted time at a specific temperature (960F) and gradually reduce the temperature cooling the glass slowly in order to remove internal stresses and ensure the bead's durability.

Reputable lampwork artists will always kiln anneal their beads before selling. Un-annealed beads make crack unexpectedly.

Kiln -- a specialized high temperature furnace or oven used specifically for lampwork, fusing glass, firing pottery, enameling and PMC work.

Aloe Vera -- herbal plant remedy for use on burns.

Glass beads may break if dropped on hard surfaces whether annealed or not. After all, it is glass. :o)
