About SheaSoapGarden

Sales 2,974
On Etsy since 2017

My family is multi cultured from Africa, Germany and USA. We love life and natural-healthy living.

I am a full time firefighter/paramedic with 4 children. My oldest son is serving in the Air Force. My second son son loves life, video games, and his baby sister. She loves attention, play doh, and slime. My youngest son only lived 10 days from birth and he is a wonderful little guy that makes me smile when I think of him.

I love people of all kinds and enjoy adding value to their lives anyway I can. As many years as I have been on ambulances and fire trucks, I still get excited every time I turn on the sirens and speed down the road to a fire or rescue call. The job can also be physically and emotionally taxing however, and requires something to take my mind off the work and unwind.

I started making handmade soap a few years ago as a hobby that would be fun for the kids and easy for me to enjoy and relax with. After I made my first loaf, I realized I had a gift for the chemistry and design involved in turning fat and oils into the perfect bar of soap.

As a man, especially a firefighter that works in a dirty environment, I personally enjoy the rustic/exfoliating/gritty soap bars. I have also been able to create some more delicate and pretty soaps for the ladies after receiving a lot of advice and trying many different ideas. You will notice some of my soaps lean towards men and some towards women and then some gender neutral.

That being said, you should order the ones that you like and don’t let anyone tell you differently! My personal favorite is Tea Tree, The Man Bar, and Anything Lavender.

Soap making is such a rewarding hobby for me! I use my own soap everyday and so do many of my family and friends. Making soap as a side business also helps me support my family and I don't have to spend my valuable time away from home to do it.

My dad has helped me since the very beginning with web design and sales department. I wouldn’t be the entrepreneur I am today without him.

Frequently asked questions
Gift wrapping and packaging

Many of my best customers gift our soaps to friends and family. We can ship your order to any address you provide at checkout. Select any gift option at checkout and your soaps will be nicely wrapped without a price or order sheet included. You can also choose a custom note.

The “5 Bar Soap Bundle” is the most common gift option.

How are the soaps made?

Most of our soaps that have essential oils are made with the “hot process” method. This is the best way to preserve the therapeutic qualities of the essential oil. Hot process soap also has a rustic marble look and texture.

Soaps with fragrance oils (synthetic) and or bright colors are made with the “cold process” method. The cold process soap will often be more smooth and decorative.

Custom and personalized orders

Custom orders are welcome. No extra charge if it is a simple request. Complicated or special request may cost more. Just message us with your request and we will help you get what you need. We can also send a custom listing with your exact request and changes with updated price.

Plastic free, recyclable package and shipping

We are currently trying to adjust our all of our packaging to be environment friendly. Unfortunately this comes at a cost and we are testing the support for this by offering it on the 3 and 5 soap bar bundle and tea tree soap. More listings will have this option in the future. You can choose this option at checkout for just over a dollar more and the soap wrapping and shipping method will be recyclable. If our customers support this effort, eventually we can move to 100% plastic free.

Are the soaps wrapped and labeled?

Each soap bar is normally individually wrapped and labeled.

At times there may be a simple black and white label on a new product that we have just launched or are testing. We design every label at home and it requires extra time and cost to print new ones, so we may use a generic label for the first run of product.

Note: Most bar soaps are shrink wrapped using shrink wrap. We are moving to plastic free wrapping this year but until we are 100% there, we are testing plastic free wraps by adding the option at checkout on some listings.
