About

My Shrugs boleros, jersey headbands, leggings and textile jewelry, or how it all started...

A few months after I got my degree in Industrial Design I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with my life... I wasn't thinking of shrugs boleros or headbands or even textile jewelry, at that time.

My best friend was getting married and I had found the perfect dress to wear to her wedding. The only problem was that it was a sleeveless dress and I needed something to wear over it. As I was buying the dress I imagined the perfect shrug I could make for it. The compliments I got at the wedding for this shrug were amazing. So, I decided to start designing and selling them in a variety of fabrics and colors, Hey why not?

After cutting the fabrics into patterns I realized that there was a lot of left over materials that went to waste. I didn't want to throw out all this good textile! I thought, why not make something out of this so called "useless" fabric. Within a short while, I came up with two original designs for necklaces which I made entirely out of the "leftovers."

This started a snowball of ideas to use excess materials for my future designs- the textile food chain!
All the excess materials that are cut from the shrugs go through, leave chunks of material which are then cut into headband and their left overs are cut into strips from which I make the cute "Rollies". These are the elements used for the headbands, pins, necklaces and earrings.

I love making the shrugs and I love the fact that I have such a variety of colorful "leftovers" that inspire me to create something out of them! I love the endless possibilities that this "useless" fabric has to offer.

For me it isn't useless, for me it is a treasure...
And to think it all started from a sleeveless dress? I guess it was meant to be :)
