AS SEEN ON: It's Sew Easy TV (Seasons 1, 3 &4)
PUBLISHED IN : Stitch Magazine, 101 Patchwork Projects & More
Welcome to my shop! Here, you'll find top quality artisan made goods that are eco-friendly, often organic, modern and sophisticated with a gentle nod to vintage design.
My name is Sheree and I am a chemist by training, but now instead of mixing up chemicals in the lab, I spend my days at mixing up fabrics and yarns and other gorgeous ingredients to create the items you see here in my shop!
I design and make every item by hand with meticulous attention to detail. There are no helpers, no outsourcing. I have no formal training in sewing/design. I am a math/science person who was born to make.
I spend a great deal of time sourcing the finest fabrics and materials to use in my work. Everything I make is one of a kind or very limited edition.
I sew, I knit, I quilt and I blog about all of it. Visit my blog at www.shereesalchemy.typepdad.com.
Watch me on TV!!! I taped 3 episodes for the new sewing show called It's Sew Easy, which airs nationwide on PBS. I can be seen on episodes 108, 110 and 113! Read more about the show on my blog. :)
I specialize in items for children, women and the home.
I love custom orders. If you see something you like, but want a different fabric, just get in touch and we can work something out. I also own a fabric shop, so I have lots of fabric for you to choose from, including many Domestic Designer fabrics as well as loads of unique European and Japanese import fabrics.
Please convo me with your requests.
A note on shipping...I will always combine shipping and in the event of an over charge (it is difficult to set up accurate shipping here), I'll send a refund.
If you are a crafty person, do check my other Etsy (seller id: shereesalchemy) shop where I sell off extra fabrics and materials.
Thanks for stopping by and again, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch!

5 out of 5 starsThese napkins are beautiful! The fabric is durable and soft and the sewing is on point. Even the color looks just as pictured--it's so easy with reds to get what you didn't expect, but these match my decor perfectly. To top it off, Sheree packaged everything beautifully and included a hand-written note. Love it!

5 out of 5 starsSherree went above and beyond to make sure her beautiful scarves made it to my Mom and Aunt for the holidays. The post office was very slow to process the package, so she made more scarves for my mom. Surprisingly, all of the scarves arrived! What a great surprise for the holidays! I reached out to Sherree, but she was already on it! Making sure our gifts arrived. Really moving during such a tough year! Did I mention the scarves were warm and beautifully made!

5 out of 5 starsFABULOUS!!! Got this for my granddaughter for Christmas, as she is an avid space enthusiast. Beautiful fabric, wonderfully sewn. SO VERY GLAD I found it! Also, as I had stated it was for Christmas, Sheree took the extra time to wrap it for me. How very sweet!! I totally recommend this shop to ALL!!

5 out of 5 starsThe colors were as vibrant as on screen. Well made. No loose threads. Have washed on cold and lightly ironed. No real shrinkage. I spot cleaned a little tomato sauce after dinner with cold water and it came right out. This fabric works well for a napkin. Given the great sewing you can buy with confidence .

There are always stacks of works in progress in my atelier. I have a million ideas waiting to become reality!
-
Often, I am inspired to make several items from the same fabric.

I take great pride in passing on the passion for sewing to my many students young and old, in Midland, Michigan.

I have a passion for making fine things that make people happy. My students have that passion as well!
Sheree's Atelier...an eclectic mix of fine things...handmade!
I am a mom to two great kids, a wife to a great guy, a chemist by training and a maker at heart.
I sew, I quilt, I knit, I make jewelry, I take photos, I make mixed media collages and I doodle. I also enjoy baking, gardening, writing, blogging and decorating.
My first artistic love is sewing. I first asked my mother for a sewing machine when I was 5 years old. I asked for one every year and finally when I was 12, she realized I was serious and bought one. I have been obsessed with sewing ever since.
One would think I would have followed a path to design and fashion. I contemplated that path, but instead ended up getting a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from MIT. In addition to enjoying sewing as a young girl, I developed a love of science and math. I decided in 12th grade that I'd be a chemist.
I spent a couple of decades sewing my own clothing and when my daughter was born, I started sewing clothing for her as well.
When she was 1, I took a leave of absence from my job as a senior R & D Scientist for a major chemical company. During that time, I started custom sewing for friends and then had a small line in two boutiques in our town. I did not return to the corporate world, and instead, spent more and more time sewing for other people in addition to sewing for myself, my daughter and my home.
Sheree's Atelier is a business that grew out of this work and my desire to stay at home with my young kids while still doing something creative, productive and fulfilling on a different level. I still have a passion for math and science as well. I do not see a necessary separation between math/science and art. In fact, I think they go hand in hand. And lucky for me, I am married to a chemist that also plays both classical and electric bass and both of kids enjoy experimenting, problem solving and also play piano, love theater and writing as well as art.
As you can see, my business is quite personal. It is a reflection of and a combination of all the things that make me happy and inspire me. Because of that, I am proud to say that I design and hand make ever item in this shop. I have a variety of interest, such as sewing, knitting, jewelry making, quilting and mixed media collage work. Because of my varied interest, I will be filling my shop with a varied and eclectic mix of artisan quality goods.
In addition to having an Etsy shop, I own a brick and mortar shop in Midland, Michigan. My shop is right on Main Street.
My work has been published in several magazines, including
STITCH Magazine and 101 Patchwork Projects, both publications from Interweave Press.
You can stay up to date on what I am up to by visiting my blog: www.shereesalchemy.typepad.com. I also have a newsletter that I invite you to join:

Owner, Maker, Designer, Photographer, Sewer, Quilter, Blogger, Shipper
My name is Sheree and I am a maker. I am formally trained as a chemist, but now spend my days caring for my family and running two shops on Etsy. I find great delight in using my hands to create beautiful, finely crafted goods.
Shop policies
I am a chemist by training that decided to leave the traditional workforce to stay home and mother my children. Now, instead of mixing up chemicals in the lab, I spend my days mixing up my favorite new and vintage fabrics, textiles and notions to create lovely artisan made goods for children, ladies and the home. I work predominately with natural materials like cotton, linen and wool. I love mixing the old with the new, so I may use a vintage inspired new fabric along with vintage trims and buttons. Or I'll take vintage textiles and work them into something thoroughly modern and up to date.
I enjoy custom work, so if you see something you like, but want a different fabric, don't hestitate to get in touch. Up until recently, I ran an online fabric shop, so I do stock a very large selection of fabrics.
Thanks for stopping by,
Sheree
