Note from shop owner The pirate is on vacation! Working on making more items and learning how to use the wood lathe. Look for future wooden spindles, bowls, and spinning tools. See you then!

About

My corner of the world

I've been crocheting since I was 10 or 12 and have been fascinated with yarn ever since then. I found Etsy through a friend's recommendation and have been selling handmade items for a few years now. I like to try making anything unique or new that I haven't tried before and I am always looking to expand my art and craft with fiber.

I'm part of a weaver's group in Harmony, PA. They make rugs and blankets using alpaca, wool, and a host of other fibers. Through them, I've been hooked on spinning my own yarn and recently purchased my own spinning wheel. She is a beautiful antique Saxony double drive with no maker's mark but likely was made in PA nearly 100 years ago. I have named her Penelope after a lady in a John Wayne movie called Angel and the Badman. It seemed to fit her nicely.

Recently, I've been learning knitting and working on adding knitted items to my store. I've also been experimenting with dyeing my own yarn and fiber.

I'm on Ravelry, my sign on name is 'shipwreckcove'. I also have a blog on tumblr if you want to see what I'm working on and any of items or yarn in progress before it comes to the shop.

I love pretending to be a pirate as you've seen by the front of my store, but in real life, I'm a nurse and a writer. I'm an avid reader of sci-fi books. I hope to one day write my own. I love to crochet. I'm also learning to knit.
