I've always had an interest in Nanna craft.
My grandmother taught me how to cross-stitch during the ad breaks of The Bold And The Beautiful when I was 7. My passion soon turned to embroidery, the mean older sister of cross stitch.
I love the idea of transferring an image onto fabric and the texture you get when running your fingers over it when you're finished. (It's the little things in life)
I began to embroider the typical motifs of cats and baskets of flowers until I thought embroidery needed a new twist of pop culture and fun. I began drawing images of Buddy Holly and elephants in dresses and thought it gave the idea of embroidery a new meaning.
I have been collecting vintage fabrics for as long as I can remember and love the idea of embroidering onto it. I feel the embroidery still has the vintage feel it deserves.
My shop name is a play on my actual name. It's the phonetic way to say my name actually.
When people would ask just how to pronounce my strange unusual name I would say, 'imagine you are going to a SHOW then afterwards you have some TEA Showte!' oh I totally get it now.
