About

I've been drawing and painting portraits since childhood...

Hi, my name is Shushannah and I've always known I had the talent to draw and paint people, animals and scenery. In high school and college all of my elective courses were art classes and chorus (I also love to sing and play music!). A few months ago a friend asked me to paint his great, great, great grandfather's family crest. Another friend saw this painting and was so impressed with it that she's commissioned me to paint several things for her - the burning bush Moses saw, the crescent new moon over Jerusalem, blowing the trumpets on Yom Teruah and the ten commandments on the two stone tablets in front of a burning Mount Sinai. Other friends have also paid me to paint for them. I did a portrait of my cousin's daughter and portraits of a friend's three grandsons. They all loved them!! Another friend who saw photos of these paintings insisted that I open a shop on etsy.com, so I did! I hope you will enjoy looking at the paintings I've done for others; then, ask me to paint one for you, too!

I'm excited to say that ShushannahsPaintings has added 2 new artists to the shop - Marti Talbert and Barbara Bishop! Both work with oils, as I do, and are experienced and talented with the brush. Marti does Children's Art. Her lively and imaginative paintings adorn many children's bedrooms and playrooms. Barbara has studied the works of several master artists and brings a timeless, classical approach to ShushannahsPaintings. She specializes in Wedding Portraits. Thanks to her background in the classical arts, Barbara brings to ShushannahsPaintings the ability to create our own paints and medium, as did the masters of old. This technique will add an heirloom quality to all our paintings, lasting for many generations to come.

  • Shushannah Rodgers

    Owner, Portrait Artist

I started drawing and painting people and animals in early childhood. My dad, an exceptional cartoonist, taught me a lot about movement and perspective. My mother was also good at drawing, so my talent came from both sides of the family.

  • Marti Talbert

    Painter Of Children's Art

Marti enjoys painting things that children love! From the toddler stage to their teens, she knows what thrills each age group. For example, she painted a "Jack-in-the-Box" in primary colors for one of her grandsons when he was little.

  • Barbara Bishop

    Wedding Paintings And Classical Art

Barbara is a student of the "Masters." She has learned to make her own paints and medium, as was done by artists like Michael Angelo and Leonardo Da Vinci. Her oil paintings, like theirs, are heirlooms, lasting from generation to generation.

Additional policies and FAQs
Additional policies and FAQs:

Your portrait will be as true to the colors of your original photo as possible. If you are ordering a custom designed background, please contact me regarding the specifics, so I will know exactly what you want. Hair and dress of the subject(s) can be changed to reflect historical periods, etc. My standard policy when painting women and girls is that I’ll take off a few pounds for a more flattering portrait, unless the subject is already slender. If subject is too thin, I can add a few pounds, but only if you ask for it. I’ll gladly do the same for men and boys, but you must ask.
