In 1998, we started our business "Busy Paws" as a part-time wholesale venture creating handmade goods for dogs and cats with the goal of raising money for animal welfare. Our first products were Southwestern dog toys, cat toys, and bandanas.

Over the years, customers asked us to make other items non-related to pets. We expanded our line to include handmade goods for the family and home, and in 2007 we changed our business name to be more inclusive of all of our products, selecting “Sierra Originals”. Our new business name was derived from our kitty named Sierra, whom we rescued from a neglectful situation along with her son, Mason. In using her name, the business still represented animal welfare to us as we adopted the two of them in spite of already having a crowded home with three cats and two dogs. They needed a home and that was all that mattered.

As strong advocates for animals, we donate most of our profits to spay and neuter programs. We are a non-profit organization staffed by many volunteers and some very talented seamstresses. Our goal is to improve animal welfare by helping to reduce the number of unwanted and homeless animals through spay and neuter. Product labels and tags have our signature “Profit for Pets” logo.

Our products are made and packaged in a smoke-free shop.
