Announcement    Springtime is on the horizon! Our most popular item, blown celadon quail eggs, will probably come in and out of stock for the next several months. Just like you don't want to count your chickens before they hatch, I don't list blown eggs as available until they are actually blown and beautiful--many of them get broken in the blowing process. At this point in the spring, I am juggling selling hatching eggs locally (eggs under a week old) and blowing the rest. Please come back soon if you don't see eggs in stock--I promise I try by best to keep up and keep the birds happy :) Thanks!

Hi there! I got my first quail eggs just as the world was slipping into the uncertain quiet of the pandemic. My "Covid Project" has been a bright spot in the darkness, and I am so excited to share some small joys of quail with you!

Frequently asked questions

Can I make special requests?

Please let me know if you would like to make a special request; I'll do my best to accommodate. I get what the hens lay, so I may not always be able to provide speckled or speckle-free eggs, but I'll do my best whenever able. Part of the beauty of the eggs is their variability and uniqueness, but I also totally understand when a project is going for a certain look.

Are the quail treated well?

Oh yes! No mega-farm practices here! The quail get treats such as garden scraps and sand baths regularly. They are kept in secure and safe breeding groups that get plenty of sunshine and fresh air. As a small hobby, I can ensure the best care for the birds every day, and their wellbeing always comes first.

What is your favorite quail egg recipe?

Easy- cookie dough :) Two quail eggs make a perfect half-batch size of cookie dough, just enough so I don't feel guilty for eating half the bowl!

Do you sell hatching eggs or other products?

It is against Etsy's policies to sell Live Animals on their platform, which includes fertile hatching eggs. Therefore it is not something I can offer here.

How sustainable is your shop?

Reducing waste is always on the forefront of my mind, and I heavily focus on making and using materials that won't outlast me on the planet. Shipping & packaging materials are especially a focus, and because of that I try to use recyclable and compostable wherever I can. Even the bags that the quail food comes in is returned to the store to be recycled. Broken eggshells get composted; the blown egg --the food part-- is used for raw dog food. Nothing is wasted wherever possible, and while there is always room for improvement, I am really proud of the small footprint my shop has, from beginning to end.

What do I do with these pine shavings?

Great question! I started shipping eggs in clean, fresh pine shavings because it is a superb light-weight, sustainable product that is local to me, and keeps the eggs safe during transit. I hope you will consider giving the shavings an extra life, if you are able to :)

Ideas for your pine shavings:
*Reuse them as packing material
*Compost (pine shavings are a "brown")
*Pet bedding
*Craft material
*Odor/moisture absorbent; clean up spills
*Firestarter/kindling
*Garden mulch
