About SigfusDesigns

Sales 506
On Etsy since 2017

Sigfus jewelry has been a passion and a dream of mine for a long time. I always knew one day I would launch a business using my own artistic expression, I just had to find the right medium that I loved working with. Once I found polymer clay, it was the beginning of a new addiction with endless possibilities.

Sigfus jewelry Is made in my private studio in sunny Tucson, Arizona. I am a Tucson native and a child of the desert! I live with my husband of 10 years and our two dogs Ragnar and Bela Lugosi. The name Sigfus is very dear to me as it is my great grandfather's first name and my father's middle name. I am very proud of my Icelandic background and wanted to choose a “strong nordic name” to represent my company and pay homage to my heritage. I lost my mother, Brenda, in 2010, we were incredibly close. I grew up going to art shows and Indian pow-wows with her, as she was a very "hippy" mother who was also a watercolor artist. I was exposed to art all the time and my mother's taste and style definitely lives on in my work as she loved the southwest and was always known to make a statement with her wardrobe. At her funeral, one of her friends spoke of my mother as someone who always would show up wearing a necklace or a pair of earrings, even when she was very ill in her final days. I took this on as a key part of my business. Her mindset of even when we don’t feel great, or we are going through hardships, we can always adorn ourselves with a piece of jewelry and still “show up” to life.

My mom also was a fan of the night blooming cereus, which is why it is a part of the Sigfús logo. She would often times get me up in the middle of the night and say “come outside! The night blooming Cereus has bloomed!”. This cactus is extra special to me as it represents that even in the darkest of times, we can always find our light and still bloom. My husband, a tattoo artist, drew the cactus logo for me, as well as all the other hand-drawn botanical sketches you see being used throughout our brand.

I hope more than anything that my jewelry will adorn those who buy it and make them feel extra beautiful. Jewelry has a special way of highlighting the beauty that is already there, and the best part is- jewelry always fits! We at Sigfús hope you find a piece that represents your style and that you can make a #MySigfúsStatment. Sigfus is a woman-owned and operated company even down to the photographers and production assistants, that is except when I'm dragging my husband to help at jewelry shows! If you see us, please come and say hello!

Thank you for supporting this small business and creating a little more beauty in the world, and remember,

even in the darkness, we can bloom!

Frequently asked questions
What are they made of and how to care for?

The earrings are made of polymer clay, they are super light on the ear and finished with surgical steel, nickel-free ear posts. All earrings are designed and made in my Arizona studio. Please mind the handmade nature of all our jewelry, slight variations may occur compared to the picture. If anything gets on the jewelry, clean with a damp cloth and a tiny amount of acetone. Do not wear in water or get wet as it could jeopardize the longevity of your earrings. Polymer clay is very durable but try not to bend or it can snap.
