Announcement   Welcome to my shop!!! All sales of my jewelry go to off-set the costs of my rescued and Colonial Williamsburg retired horses. I am the first jeweler to be awarded the best of the best in the Early American Life Directory.

Please use HOLIDAY2018 to get 20% off $20 or more this holiday season. Valid until the end of day on 19 December.

I hope to be your one-stop shop for everything historical - that is for the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries - but I do have many items that are from the 20th century that we can also wear! All of it can be worn everyday. Many of my listings have multiple items within so don't only go by the first photo as I may offer more colors. I also include a lot of portraits and prints to illustrate the historical aspect of the reproduction/inspiration.

The quality is spectacular! My jewelry is sold in several gift shops from George Washington's Mount Vernon, Historic Alexandria, Washington Crossing Historic Park, and Darnall's Chance House Museum. It is also on display at several museums from the Paca House and Gardens in Historic Annapolis, the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, the American Revolution Museum in Yorktown, and has been in television shows (TURN, Washington's Spies, American Gods) and movies.

I am a living historian who loves the medieval, Georgian, Regency, and Victorian eras. I study jewelry of those time periods, and make reproductions and/or inspired pieces. My jewelry has undertones of multiple centuries - it is so versatile that it can be worn even today! I do not have my sections grouped by time period because so many cross over from one to the next - become popular in one decade or century only to go out of favor in another. If you aren't sure, just ask. I can fulfill your accessory needs from head to toe! I also have items for the gentleman.

I specialize in making one of a kind pieces by re-purposing or creating items with vintage settings.

Need a custom set? Just convo me and we can get started. :-) Once we figure out what is wanted, a 50% downpayment will be required up front. Please inquire as I may not be taking custom orders if I am working on other projects.

I do sell at reenactments and craft shows, and have made thousands of sales. My schedule can be seen on my website at www.kwaltersatthesignofthegrayhorse.com. When I am away and have not closed my shop, I always check Etsy to see if I have orders and they are set aside for you right away. If you see something, get it or it could be gone! I will mail it the day after I return.

Please take a moment to also leave feedback for me. If something is not to your liking, please contact me before you leave less than positive feedback. The goal is to make you happy.

Want a gift certificate? There is a listing that allows you to choose your amount from $15 on up. I create them on-line so it is almost immediate to your e-mail inbox. When the gift certificate is ready to be redeemed, please have the person contact me to start the process.

I do LAYAWAY! If you'd like something, I will hold items for you for up to 3 months with a 1/3 deposit that is non-refundable. You can pay the remainder at any time within the three months, and I will create a special listing for you to finalize your purchase. The initial payments are all done via PayPal.

I currently do not accept checks or money orders. If you are a customer that has paid this way in the past, please convo me.

If you are a reseller, historic site, or shop that wants to sell my jewelry - I do have some wholesale prices and/or an al la carte discount. Please contact me so that I can give you a shop code in which to purchase, or e-mail me, my address is kimberlywalters [!at] comcast.net for further details.

When returning items, please realize that I do not pay for that return. I also have a $10 restocking fee that covers the fees I incurred during the transaction, as well as any to refund. If I make the mistake, I will refund you postage to return it so we can get it right - but only up to the amount that I paid to send it to you - not additional insurance that you may send it back with, as an example. I will always work with you. I have unfortunately had customers who threaten me, please do not be one of those customers. If you request a custom piece such as a miniature or lover's eye, the purchase for the piece is non-refundable as I do take my time and materials to create the piece. If nothing is mailed to you, I will refund the postage.

If I agree to hold a piece, it must be paid for within 36 hours or else I will relist it. Unfortunately, I cannot hold things for days, weeks, or months...

I mail via the U.S. Postal Service, First Class with tracking. It is insured up to $50. If you require additional insurance, this is extra so use the "Upgrade Shipping" listing to upgrade your package. I want to ensure the purchase gets to you. I can mail via UPS and/or FEDEX using your business account information, if you prefer. If you do not have a business account and want the package sent via UPS or FEDEX, use "Upgrade Shipping" as my set price for postage may not cover it. I will refund any overages. I also hand deliver all orders to the post office on an almost daily basis. Due to Etsy raising their transaction rates from 3.5% to 5%, I have increased my shipping cost to include this rate. So shipping, packaging, and "handling the transaction" are what is included. Etsy is also adding tax for specific states (I only tax those who purchase in Virginia), as well as a 10% fee for those who purchase from Australia.

Orders received before Noon are usually mailed the same day. Orders received on a Friday will be mailed the following Monday. When mailing internationally, once it leaves the United States, I cannot track it until it gets into your country. I am only usually notified once it arrives. If something hasn't arrived, please check with your local postal service to see if it is still in Customs, and if not then contact me and I will see if it is held up in the U.S., or if there is anything I can do.

Thank you again for visiting, and do have a look around!

About

I sell reproduction and historically inspired jewelry for my four rescued and one adopted Colonial Williamsburg horse.

The Inspiration in which I became interested in horses was all due to the commission of a riding habit with Wendy Strawn of Historically Sew, and eventually my hat by George F. Franks, III of Cocked Hats to go with the ensemble. My thought was, if I were to wear a riding habit at living history events, I must know how to ride a horse as well - otherwise how can I understand the reason for wearing the habit if I haven't experienced riding? Reenacting and living history led me to my gorgeous gray horse, a Tennessee Walker, named Southern Belle. Now, what does that have to do with making and selling reproduction and historically inspired jewelry? Simple, my Southern Belle was a lady of refined taste and had a certain lifestyle of which she was accustomed. I started making jewelery in 2010 and opened my business in 2011 because she required supplements and shots for her severe osteoarthritis which came as a result of her being a reenactment horse for 8 years. She was retired and in my care for 4-1/2 years and had to leave me when she was 25+ years of age on 25 August 2014. You may have seen her at reenactments - as she loved the adoration and attended to honor the memories of horses who gave their lives during the Revolutionary War. This venture was started entirely for her out of respect, love, compassion, dignity, and to keep her out of any pain. She was the love of my life and her memory lives on in my caring for her other friends who I also rescued or adopted - Mindy, Haddy, Mallory, Little Man and now Nelson. Nelson carries on Belle's legacy. I opened this shop in 2015 to offer my items to those who would like to support the horses.
