SilhouetteGifts' Shop Announcement

Hello and many thanks for stopping by Silhouette Gifts Etsy Store!
We are passionate about portraits and take pride in creating beautiful and flattering silhouettes. There’s just something about a silhouette that captures the essence of it’s subject - a soft cheek, a stray curl captured in time in a stylish and elegant work of art.
We hope to create a new family heirloom with every silhouette produced.
A silhouette portrait also makes a wonderful and meaningful gift.

Our silhouettes are 100% hand drawn. We do not
trace your photos or use photoshop trickery.
Graduates of the illustrious Glasgow School of Art,
between us we’ve worked professionally in art and design for over 20 years.

We work in close contact with our clients to achieve the best results -
consulting over composition, colors and size. We offer Gallery quality giclee prints or
digital files which customers print themselves or use as screen savers or digital greeting cards.
We are always happy to talk over ideas, answer questions or give advice over photos.

So dig out some old pics or get snapping, we look forward to hearing from you!

Ordering your custom silhouette is easy!

Email us a photo or two of your subject in profile (see tips on your photo below) plus names if required, clearly stating who is who, and we will send you a proof within the next few days.
Once you are happy with the silhouette portrait we will print and dispatch your print, carefully packaged in a bend-proof cardboard mailer.
Alternatively we can send you your portrait as a full res PDF file which you can print out yourself or take to your local printshop.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

For head and shoulder silhouette portraits:

Place your subject in profile against a light background.

Make sure your subject is looking straight on (not slightly toward you or the background)
and is nice and relaxed, mouth closed if possible.

Position yourself at eye level with your subject.

Be sure to include the entire head and shoulders.

For girls, hair worn up in a ponytail can add more interest to the portrait.

Don't worry about being too neat - any stray curls or hairs add some charm to the portrait!

For full figure silhouette portraits:

Try to keep subjects faces in profile.

Keep poses simple.

And that's it. Happy snapping!
Oh and please be sure that the pics are reasonably high res - blurry won't fly...
