Silver Creek Springs, our paradise in the rolling hills of Wisconsin

In 2008 my husband and I were searching for land in hopes of finding the perfect place to build our homestead. The housing market was bad and there were many bank owned, foreclosed homes in our area. On a whim, we decided to look at a few. We printed a photo of the property and we thought, yeah, let's take a look. It was a house that desperately needed some TLC. We arrived to view it on a sunny, fall day and before we even stepped out of the vehicle, we knew it was special. There was something about this small valley, with it's modest creek that touched our hearts. It was decided. This was the place for us.
Not only did the 1900's farmhouse need some work, but the land had not been cared for in many years. We are continually cleaning the property and committing ourselves to our role as land stewards. Every year we fall deeper in love with it. We named our property Silver Creek Springs in honor of the spring fed creek, Silver Creek, which flows through the property. Each year I plant a new medicinal herb on the property to enrich the environment and give back to the land.
I became a Community Herbalist in 2018, after a 27 career as a Tattoo Artist and studio owner. I had been taking herbal workshops and creating salves and balms for my friends and family before deciding to enroll in the Master Herbalist Diploma Program through the Midwest School of Herbal Studies, graduating in 2022 as a Master Herbalist. Since then, I've been immersing myself in herbalism and other healing modalities. I'm happy to continue to handcraft my oils & balms, while also offering wild plant identification walks, herbal workshops and recommendations on the farm and in my brick and mortar location in Turtle Lake, WI.
