Ask Me About My Endo - Crafting for a Cause

First taking shape as Silver Rose Sewing, the shop began as a hobby after a back sprain left Kelsey out of work for several months. Kelsey made handcrafted stuffed animals that were based off of a treasured bear from her childhood. Ruby Roo was the most popular item in the shop, with purchases from around the world. After she returned to work as a teacher, the Etsy shop went into retirement.

Years later, Kelsey was in the midst of battling stage IV Endometriosis, and made an updated version of Ruby to serve as the mascot for her Endometriosis awareness organization, Ask Me About My Endo. What began as an idea for a t-shirt to wear to the Emergency Room has now blossomed into a growing online community, resource website, and awareness campaign. Her husband thought a mascot could help draw attention to the misunderstood and under diagnosed disease that causes chronic pelvic pain for over 176 million women worldwide. As soon as they began sharing photos of her, requests for Ruby the Endo Roo began pouring in from followers on Facebook!

Ruby has become a popular representation of the estimated 176 million women who suffer from Endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain around the world. Ruby is the focal point of our online awareness campaign, and a source of comfort to many women who follow our organization. Ruby has helped her creator use her voice fighting to share her story and help women like her access this life changing surgery that only a handful of doctors perform effectively.

In summer 2014, we began hosting links to excision surgery fundraisers on our website,, for women who need help financing quality care and surgery. We quickly realized that hosting and sharing the links just wasn't enough. This led Kelsey to re-brand the Etsy shop to reflect a mission to give back to the community. She also designed a line of heating pads to help women with chronic pain and post surgical care. $10 of every Ruby purchase, and $1 for every item sold in the shop is donated to one of the excision surgery fundraisers listed on the Sponsor a Surgery page on to help support effective treatment and advocate for quality care.

In December 2014, Kelsey began having debilitating neurological symptoms and severe joint pain and headaches. She is once again fighting for a diagnosis for chronic pain, but continues to find joy and inspiration designing and handcrafting aromatherapy heating/cold packs with organic flax seed, rice, and essential oils.

Thank you for helping us make a difference!

Hi! I am a stage iv Endometriosis survivor who is looking to make a difference through a hobby that helped me have a positive outlook during years of chronic low back and pelvic pain. I started out trying my hand at sewing my own clothes, and found that it gave me a great sense of purpose to create something special and personal. In the past four years, I've found my sewing room to be a place of sanctuary, somewhere I can go to escape my battle with chronic illness. I recently founded Ask Me About My Endo. Ruby the Endo Roo is our mascot, and she has become a symbol for all people who suffer from endometriosis, a debilitating disease that is common, deeply misunderstood, and difficult to treat. For more information, visit:

$1 of each purchase is donated to an excision surgery fundraiser listed on our website. For each Ruby the Endo Roo purchase, a $10 donation is made. You can feel good about your purchase because you are not only buying a handmade item created with love and care, but you are giving hope to women struggling to fight a debilitating illness.
