Welcome to Silver Trumpet Jewelry - Handmade in Vancouver BC Canada
The story behind the name...
Since childhood, creativity has been my joy, my outlet, my safe haven and my favourite form of therapy. I grew up drawing and sketching as I watched my father do the same. I spent my formative years writing and illustrating stories, dancing, hiking and exploring outdoors, publishing and circulating my own zine, and discovering a life-long love for music. I studied music and played the trumpet for many years.
I once had a silver trumpet, which I sadly parted with when I sold it to buy a one-way ticket to Europe, hoping to try and 'find myself' after a difficult and confusing time during my early 20's. It turned out that I settled in Scotland for a few years, after stepping off of the train in Edinburgh and falling hopelessly in love with my new surroundings. I figured out a lot about who I was and what I wanted during that time away, and I also enjoyed playing classical music with a few different groups (my father sent my trusty old brass trumpet to me by mail - what a package THAT was to open!). The experience will always be dear to my heart. The name of my Etsy shop is a nod to the very thing that started my creative journey, which has had its twists and turns and interesting detours here and there. I am grateful for every single minute of it.
I discovered jewelry making in 2008 as I was coming out of a long period of depression (something that has challenged me since childhood). It was a true blessing that I stumbled upon something that took all of my interests and passions and gave me a new voice to communicate through my creativity. My jewelry is a fairly accurate reflection of who I am and what I love. I adore history, art, music and fashion, literature and design, all things unique and vintage, not to mention the beauty of nature which I have been blessed to be surrounded by all of my life.
Working with my hands and creating jewelry is a healing experience for me daily. I have learned so much since opening this little shop, and I have connected with so many amazing individuals from all over the world. Etsy has been much more than just a 'storefront' for my jewelry, it has been a source of so much joy!
Thank you so much for your visit! I love to chat so if you have questions, suggestions, ideas or just want to connect, I would be happy to hear from you.
