Announcement   Welcome to Silver by Keri. I offer quality jewelry handmade to last with care using the finest materials: sterling silver, fine silver, 14K gold-fill, vermeil, high grade gemstones, pearls, Swarovski crystals and more. You will also find a genuine, caring, commitment to service. Everything is made with love and gratitude. My goal is to offer you a great value and complete satisfaction with your purchase.

For personalized items: Please choose your disc size and font carefully, as I will be making this just for you and don't carry inventory of stamped discs.

Standard shipping is USPS First Class and you will receive an e-mail with a tracking number when your item ships. Standard shipping usually takes 2-5 business days. Priority Mail shipping takes 2-3 days. Please keep in mind that all items are made to order and allow up to one or two weeks for the item to be produced, then add shipping time. Custom items or multi charm items can take longer. Please contact me first if you would like Priority Mail shipping and I can work with you to determine if I can meet your deadline.

I do not include printed receipts in packages because they can easily be viewed right here on the Etsy site. Just click on "You" at the top of the screen. Then "Purchases and Reviews" to view all of the orders you've placed with Etsy shops. To the right of your order, you can click on "View Receipt".

A few years ago, I had many more offerings. I've down-sized my business to volume I can manage independently while working around my teaching profession. If there is something you've purchased in the past - chances are I still have the materials to make it. Just ask.

Caring for all silver jewelry: I recommend removing jewelry before sleeping, showering, or swimming. Water doesn't harm sterling silver, but chlorine and other chemicals contained in water and other products, such as perfumes and lotions can trigger oxidation. This oxidation can be removed and is not a sign of inferior silver. It's what true sterling silver does. There are several options for cleaning silver and other metals. Please research each method and be careful with pearls or soft stones. These methods are mainly for cleaning silver pieces and some work with brass and gold fill as well.

About

From Saturday Market to Etsy

My mother's jewelry box was filled with amazing things that my dad would bring to her from his overseas adventures in the Navy and as a young girl, I would spend hours sorting, holding and trying on her treasures. I couldn't wait to get my ears pierced and wear all the wonderful earrings I imagined I needed. But I had to wait until I was 12 which I attribute to my lifelong earring fetish.

My very first job as a teenager was assisting in a jewelry booth at an outdoor market. This was an amazing experience. I so enjoyed the process of helping someone find something perfect for them or a loved one. I then went on to earn a B.S. in Business (Marketing) and a Master's in Teaching. Now, I am so fortunate to be able to make and sell jewelry in my spare time.

When my daughter was in high school, I decided it would be a fun opportunity for her to assist in a home-based business and we took my hobby to our local Saturday Market where I set up a booth every Saturday for five years beginning in 2007.

In 2012, I decided to devote my attention to offering jewelry only online as this business had grown and I could no longer manage a physical inventory for the market and produce all of the personalized orders that were coming in. In 2013, I reduced my teaching hours to help keep up and in 2014, I decided to downsize the business and return to teaching full time. It's been fun and challenging to keep life in balance as I make jewelry part time and continue to teach reading at the elementary school near my home.

While I miss the lively face to face interactions of the market, I love the convenience of working from home. I live in a small, rural community with fabulous views, friendly people, and a cute little post office.

I primarily use two processes in my jewelry to create the personalized made to order pieces that have become my mainstay.

WHAT IS HAND STAMPING?
The process of hand stamping is often confused with engraving. In hand stamping, a metal shaft, with a raised letter on the bottom, is placed on a metal piece. The opposite end of this shaft is hit with a hammer to create an impression in the metal.

WHAT IS FUSING?
I don't much care for the constant use of chemicals (acid) needed for soldering sterling silver. I therefore choose to fuse fine silver which is practically pure silver. With a small torch, I can bring the temperature of silver wire to the melting point of silver and "melt" the ends of the wire together. This is how I create the surrounding rings for necklaces or stacking finger rings and knot rings that I offer. After the items are fused, I put them in a rock tumbler with steel shot. Each "hit" helps to compress and harden the silver molecules and give the piece a high shine.

GENERAL AND CARE OF PIECES:
Many of my pieces include fused fine silver components. Fused fine silver is 99.9% pure silver and does not tarnish like sterling silver. It might dull a little over time, but shines up quickly with a silver polish cloth. In fact, fine silver, sterling silver (92.5%) and copper pieces can all be shined up with a polish cloth or with a baking soda and water paste. Brushed finishes are extra inviting to tarnish, so I protect them with a wax seal. They should not be polished!

ORDERING GIFT SETS AND MODIFIED PIECES:
If you would like to order 4 or more of an item - please contact me first. I can offer a small discount and create a reserved listing for you to use.

HANDMADE CHARM NOT MACHINE PERFECT:
Don't expect perfection in handmade pieces. They are hand-formed and often slightly wonky which makes them fun. Handstamping of letters and names is especially difficult. My hat goes off to those whose main line is handstamped names. It is extremely difficult to line them up perfectly or even semi-straight. Letters will imprint deeper in some places and lighter in others. Some letters may be slightly tilted or higher up than others. Sometimes the disc will take on a natural curve in the event of a deeper imprint or hammered finish. Antiquing solution can also cause differing effects and has varying degrees of darkness. You can always request not to have hand stamped letters, words, or images antiqued (blackened).

PRODUCING AND SHIPPING:
During the school year, most orders are produced over the weekend and ship the following Monday or Tuesday. Please allow one week for production prior to shipping unless the listing is marked "Ready to Ship in which case will ship out in 1-2 days. Packages are shipped via USPS First Class Mail. You will receive an email with a tracking number when the order ships.

I have a history with USPS providing great service. Packages shipped First Class often arrive as quickly as packages shipped via Priority Mail.

On the rare occasion (about 1 in 500) a package will get "stuck" somewhere and may take up to 5-6 weeks to arrive at its destination. This is something I have absolutely no control over. Only one package in 6000 has been "lost". In the event that your package happens to be 1 in 500 or 1 in 6000, please allow 6 weeks for arrival, after which case I will work with you for the best replacement option.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED:
My goal is for you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If for some reason, you are not satisfied with your purchase, please convo me immediately so that I can work with you on a fair solution.
