It was shipped toms friend for her birthday. Louise rushed and must have stayed up nights to get it out on time. My friend loved it!
Silvermoon Hand Knits. Easy care knits for you, your family, and your home.
When I was a little girl, I watched my older sisters knitting, crocheting, and embroidering lovely things all the time. I wanted to learn, so I asked my mother one day to show me. She said she could only knit a little and only in a straight line but I persisted and she gave in. Not having knitting needles, she sharpened two pencils and grabbed some string and before I knew it, I was knitting! Later, one of my sisters taught me how to make a crochet chain and I made some really long ones, but I wanted to learn much more. So little by little, I learned to knit and crochet, but I couldn't really make anything. It was much later, after my children were born, that I began crafting in earnest. Some of my first attempts were just awful! It took a while, but eventually I figured out the essence of knitting. I discovered that you will never really knit well until you learn how things work and why they work, and once I cracked the code I was off and running! Now, there are no projects too intimidating to tackle.
Everything I make has to be something I would like to own myself. A sweater has to be soft enough that I would put it on my own baby. A blanket must be warm but still feel light as a feather on top of me. If something would make me itch, I just assume it would make you itch too. Also, it has to be something that will be fairly easy to care for, which means you won't see very much in my shop made from super expensive, high end fibers (though I do love them!). I like good, sturdy, quality yarns that can be washed and enjoyed. Everything in my shop is knit by hand one stitch at a time, not on a knitting machine.
Many hours go into the things I make. The planning, designing, researching fibers, scouring shops for the perfect yarn in the perfect color, driving long distances to find just what I'm looking for... all of this takes considerable time, perhaps as much time as the knitting itself. Hand knitting is not lucrative work when you factor in the cost of quality materials and tools, advertising, office supplies, and so much of my time. I do know, though, that you can't put a price on doing something you love everyday. I believe it was Confucius who said, "Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life." I have found this to be so true. What a joy it is to get payed to do something you love!
Thanks so much for stopping by and please come back often as I always have new things in the works! I hope you enjoy using my work as much as I enjoy making it for you!
