While I will place shipments in my mailbox on Saturday, this is the only business thing I do on the weekend. Because of this, it does take me some time to work through all my messages on Mondays while working to complete orders as well. Because they are so detailed, most questions can be answered by reading the item description and policies. My listing photos include size charts, color options and other items to aid you in placing your order.

About

Just a bit about me.

I have always been a creative person. At the age of 6, I did my very first sewing project, a log cabin quilt block pot holder for my mother (which she still uses!). Over the years, I made several items for myself and my family and played around doing various crafty things. When my first daughter was born, I bought my very first brand new sewing machine and started making dresses for both she and myself. I made all sorts of pretty things for my girls to wear for Easter, Christmas and even a handful of pageants as well as gifts for family. In the early 2000's while working as a medical transcriptionist, I discovered a love for making jewelry and pursued that venue for a couple of years, even starting a shop here on Etsy when it first opened as an online venue. I did a few shows and things, had quite a bit of fun and enjoyed it very much, but I found I didn't love it as much sewing.

In 2007, a close friend asked me to make a few dresses to put in her embroidery shop for sale, so I did. Soon I was making other items to sell in her shop, so I shut down my jewelry shop and Simplie Girlie Designs began. In 2008, we had our son and I discovered that you just didn't find near as many cute things in shops for boys as you did for girls, so the business grew to include items for boys and a ton of things for babies. I would also help my friend in her embroidery shop from time to time, or use her machines to embroider things for my own children and family. I found that I really enjoyed doing the embroidery, but I never pursued it as a business as I did not feel it would be right to compete with my friend.

In 2010, the company my husband worked for laid off everyone in his department and we moved to Conway, AR. Since we moved and I would not be competing with my friend, I added an embroidery machine. Very quickly became hooked on doing cute appliqued shirts for kids and adding monograms to pretty much anything I could, lol. It wasn't long until the majority of orders coming in were for embroidered items and, with the exception of doing nursery bedding and items to go along with the birthday shirts, I was doing less and less sewing.

While I loved doing all this embroidery, I kept finding that I wanted to personalize other things as well. I loved having my monogram on clothing, towels and such (it's a southern thing, ya'll! lol), but I wanted to personalize things like travel cups, car windows, etc. So in late 2014, I purchased my first vinyl cutter and began creating vinyl decals to personalize things for friends and family. It didn't take long to discover that I could use a special type of vinyl and decorate shirts and other fabric items as well. I added a heat press and was soon adding custom vinyl printed t-shirts to my shop. Within a couple of years, business seemed to just explode. I was doing more and more shirts than ever and less and less custom sewing.

So early this year, I made the tough decision to no longer do custom sewing projects for customers with the exception of making shorts, skirts, etc. to coordinate with birthday shirts and such that customers purchase. More and more orders were coming in for custom t-shirts and every sewing only project required me to stop all production of everything else, and focus just on the sewing. As I do all the work here myself, it quickly just became too much to keep up with it all. It was a very tough decision as the custom sewing is what started Simplie Girlie Designs in the first place. Every smart business changes along with the demands of its customers, though, and most of my customers are now ordering embroidered birthday shirts and custom vacation shirts. While the decision was a tough one, it has removed a lot of stress from my life, so I have no regrets. I now have time to come up with fun new shirt designs as well as more time to spend with my family.

I love this work. Being able to provide quality work for people everywhere while still being able to be there for my kids has been a Godsend. I'm able to attend games, run kids to practice, etc. and still help my husband provide for our family. I may have days where my brain is fuzzy from lack of sleep (staying up until 2 am completing orders because your daughter had a ball game 2.5 hours away and you need to be up at 6 am to get the kids up for school will do that to you, lol), but I would not trade it and go back to a "day job" for anything. I am thankful for each and every customer who has allowed me to do something I love from the comfort of home. My kids and family are better for it thanks to you!

PRODUCTION TIME:

Orders schedule to ship 2 weeks from the purchase date. My schedule is always booked, so you cannot count on the order shipping sooner than 2 weeks unless you have purchased rush service. If you need your order sooner, you will need to add one of the rush options below to your cart along with the item you are purchasing.

CHANGING THE SHIPPING METHOD IN YOUR CART DOES NOT RUSH YOUR ORDER! You MUST purchase rush service for your order to be moved up in the production line ahead of others so it is completed sooner.

Sales on custom and personalized items are FINAL! These items may only be returned or exchanged if I have made a mistake on the order. I MUST be contacted within 3 days of your receiving the item in order for you to receive a refund or exchange. When you contact me, you will need to include photos of your item to show the mistake/error/defect.

Make sure you place your order correctly! No refunds will be issued if you misspelled the child's name, gave me incorrect information or ordered the incorrect size.

Orders may be cancelled within 3 business days of purchase on regular orders. Ordered placed with rush service may NOT be cancelled.

SHIPPING:

All USPS shipping methods are available. You will choose your method in the cart. Please consult your calendar prior to purchasing to make sure you allow plenty of time for your purchase to arrive. Remember to allow 2 weeks (unless you have purchased rush service) for your order to be completed, then allow for shipping time.

US FIRST CLASS (standard shipping): Generally 3-7 days shipping time. There is NO delivery date guarantee through USPS and NO insurance to cover lost or damaged packages.

US PRIORITY (Recommended!): Generally 2-3 days (allow up to 5 - USPS states priority can take up to 5 days - they will only refund you if your package takes more than 5 business days to arrive). Includes up to $100 in insurance. **If your order is over $100 and you wish to have full insurance coverage on your package, you must contact me for a custom listing for the additional insurance. Otherwise, you order will only be covered for $100 if something should happen to it during shipping.

US PRIORITY EXPRESS: 1-2 days, includes $100 in insurance and comes with a USPS money back guarantee on the delivery date. Choosing this shipping method does NOT move your order up to be completed and ship in 1-2 days. Rush service is required to move the order up (see above).

TRACKING: Available on all packages. Etsy will send you an email with a link to track your package as soon as I print the shipping label. You are also able to track your purchase from the "purchases and reviews" area when you are logged into Etsy. Tracking updates may take 24 hours to be posted. The tracking information you see is exactly what is shown by the USPS system. It looks exactly the same whether viewed by you, me or USPS personnel. If there seems to be an issue with your package staying in one location too long, you may contact the USPS so they can assist in finding it.

*** If USPS does not guarantee a specific delivery time, neither can I! I have no control over what happens/how long it takes for a package to arrive once the post person has picked it up. If your package is lost or damaged, it is only covered if you have chosen a shipping option that includes insurance.

FIRST CLASS INTERNATIONAL: Varies by country. No delivery date guarantee and NO insurance to cover lost or damaged packages. First class is only available for packages weighing 13 ounces or less.

PRIORITY INTERNATIONAL: 6-10 days. Comes with $100 in insurance. If you need additional insurance, please contact me.

PRIORITY EXPRESS INTERNATIONAL: 3-5 days. Express comes with $100 in insurance. If you need additional insurance, please contact me.

** International customers - Your package will state the contents and value on the shipping label. Any taxes, tariffs, customs fees, etc. are YOUR responsibility. Please be sure to allow plenty of time for your item to ship. I would allow longer than the time frames above (these are from USPS and sometimes packages can take longer due to customs). I am not responsible if your package gets hung up in customs.
MAKE SURE YOUR ADDRESS IS CORRECT BEFORE FINALIZING YOUR ORDER. You are able to edit the address during the checkout process. If your purchase is a gift, I am happy to ship straight to the recipient - simply edit the address during checkout so that I can ship it correctly.

NOTE - I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PACKAGES THAT ARE SHIPPED BY THE SCHEDULED DATE BUT NOT DELIVERED IN A TIMELY MANNER BY THE USPS. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE THAT OCCURS DURING SHIPPING. Additional policies and FAQs
CONTACTING ME ABOUT YOUR ORDER:

To contact me about an order you already placed, use the blue "contact" button on your receipt. This should automatically link me back to your invoice so I know exactly what order you have a question about. Any communication regarding an Etsy order needs to take place using the Etsy messaging system (conversations). This is for your protection as well as mine should any situation arise regarding your order and Etsy is asked to step in. This also ensures that I know where your order came from (I do get orders Facebook, calls and texts as well) If you send a personal email, I most likely will NOT see it. I get far too many emails in a day to go through them all regularly and many times emails wind up in my junk mail.

MESSAGING:

My regular business hours are 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. I will answer messages at least once during these hours. I do run my business on my own and some days are busier than others, so please be patient while awaiting a response. Saturday and Sunday are set aside for family, so any messages sent on these days will be answered some time the following Monday.!!

SELECTING SIZE & ADDING MULTIPLE SIZES TO THE CART:

In each listing in my shop, you must choose the size you want in order to add an item to your cart. All sizes available are shown in the size menu. Only the sizes shown in the listing are available. If a size is not shown, then it is not available for that particular listing. If you are interested in a particular item and the size you need is not available, you may message me to see if I can find a shirt in another brand that comes in the size you need.

If you are ordering multiple sizes -- Add each size to your cart SEPARATELY. You may change the quantity if needed for each size.

For example - If you need a 3T, 2 youth L, Ladies XL and 2 unisex M shirts, you will add each of these sizes to your cart one at a time. Go to the listing, leave the quantity at 1, select size 3T from the size menu and add to cart. Return to the listing, change the quantity to 2, select Youth L, add to cart. Return to the listing, leave the quantity at 1, select Ladies XL, add to your cart. Return to the listing, change the quantity to 2, select Adult M, add to the cart. Once you have all sizes in your cart, double check your quantities and sizes to be sure you have them correct. Once you have ensured all the sizes and quantities are correct, you may proceed with leaving me a note in the message to seller section during checkout so I have all the other details I need to customize your order.

BE SURE TO ADD THE CORRECT SIZES TO YOUR CART! If an item comes in multiple styles (such as toddler, ladies, unisex, etc.), you will find each style and size listed in the size menu to select and add to your cart. When I order blank shirts to fill orders, I use what you have added to your cart. IF YOU HAVE CHOSEN ONE SIZE AND ADDED IT TO YOUR CART THEN PUT A DIFFERENT SIZE IN THE NOTE TO SELLER DURING CHECKOUT, IT WILL DELAY SHIPMENT OF YOUR ORDER!! Please add each separate size needed to your cart. i.e. do NOT choose 3 Adult XL shirts and add those to your cart then in your note put 1 men's XL and 2 women's XL. Instead, select Adult XL, quantity 1 and add to your cart - return to the listing, change the quantity to 2, select Ladies XL and add those to your cart.

SIZING:

From my experience, "True to size" is a relative term and differs for most everyone. The only way to ensure you order the correct size is to consult the size chart(s). While most unisex shirts I use tend to run pretty much the same, other styles can vary greatly from brand to brand. Every listing in my shop contains photos that show you the measurements for each size available as well as how to measure a shirt. These charts also contain a full description of the shirt including fabric content, shirt fabric weight, type of label used, etc. Most also contain the manufacturers item number (you can enter this into Google to look up reviews to see how others feel a particular style fits). The charts shown are from the manufacturer - if they do not give height and weight measurements or give a numerical size (i.e. 6, 8, etc.), then I do not have that information.

To choose the correct size, measure a shirt the person wears using the guide in the listing photos - it is vital that you follow this guide so you measure in the correct place as measuring incorrectly may result in you ordering the wrong size. If you are ordering for a group, please make sure to do this for each person or have them get these measurements to you. Once you have your measurements, compare those to the chart in the listing and order the size that best corresponds to your measurements.

Some personal recommendations when it comes to measuring:
1) Keep in mind that the shirt you are measuring has most likely been previously washed. If you use a dryer, this means that shirt has most likely shrunk. If the shirt measurement comes up to be smaller than you normally purchase in that style, I would size up and order the size you normally purchase.
2) If in doubt, size up. It is always better to have a shirt that is a bit large than to have one you cannot wear because it is too small!
3) If you are having trouble, ask for assistance! While I may not have all the answers to every question and I cannot measure the garment for you, I will do all I can to help you select the best size. If you are unsure if you are measuring in the correct spot, send me a photo showing how/where you are measuring and I'll be happy to assist you. I want you to be happy with your purchase and will do all I can to ensure that, but I cannot help if you do not ask!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Embroidered items: For best results, wash in cold water with like colors using mild detergent. For items with red in them, use a color catcher sheet. Hang or lay flat to dry. Iron using a pressing cloth over the design. The material covering the back of the embroidery may start to peel away with multiple washings (especially if you use a dryer). This is normal, but it may be reapplied with an iron on the cotton setting and pressing cloth or teflon sheet covering the area.

Vinyl printed items: Machine was warm with mild detergent. Turn inside out to protect graphic. Do NOT use fabric softener! Some fabric softeners can actually react with the adhesives in the vinyl causing the graphic to peel from the garment. Dry at low setting, high heat is not recommended. For best results and longer garment life, pull out of the dryer while still slightly damp and hang to dry (or dry on a line out of direct sun). Do not dry clean. Iron inside out or with a pressing cloth covering the design.

***If you order a lot of embroidered and/or printed shirts of any kind, I highly recommend purchasing a teflon sheet like those used by garment decorators who use heat presses. You can find these on Ebay, Amazon, and many other retailers. With one of these sheets, you can iron any embroidered, vinyl printed or screen printed shirt at the appropriate heat setting for the type of shirt the design is on without damaging the graphic.

Decals: Items with decals applied to them can ONLY be washed by hand.

SOME COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND THEIR ANSWERS:

1) Can you use a different fabric?

YES! Please be more thorough and include other information such as what color fabric(s) you are looking for. I have hundreds of fabrics on hand and I'm happy to do a different fabric on any of my items, but I do need to know what you are looking for. :)

2) Can you change the shirt color?

YES! Every listing includes a photos that shows shirt sizes, measurements and available colors. Please consult this photo to see available colors - you can zoom in to view them better.

3) When can I expect my item to arrive/ship? If I order today, when will it ship?

See production time above! You can figure your ship date by looking at your order date and adding 2 weeks. Shipping time varies by the method you choose during checkout. Each shipping method is detailed above.

4) Can you make a shirt with ________?

In most cases, YES! I can do far more that what you see here in my Etsy store. If you see something you like in a photo somewhere, chances are that I have the design, can find the design or can put together something close.

5) Can I customize the wording?

Yes! Every item in my shop can be customized. In some cases (like if more wording is added to embroidery or the additional wording makes the design larger), the final price may differ.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Nearly every item in my shop is a custom and/or personalized item. I can change shirt color, fabric colors, thread colors or vinyl colors on any item. Each listing description contains instructions on what information to leave me during checkout so that your order is completed to your exact specifications. Please see each item description for more details. When contacting me about a specific color scheme, please let me know the color scheme you are using so I can answer appropriately. ;)

Sizing details

Each listing contains photos of the shirts I use with measurements for each size. I also include a photo that shows you how to measure a shirt. If a listing does not contain these photos, contact me to request them. Check these photos to ensure you order the correct size! Refunds will not be given if you fail to check this and the shirt you ordered is too small or large. Unless otherwise noted in the listing, ALL shirts and bodysuits will be short sleeved.

Care instructions

I include a care sheet with each order. For the best care of any handmade garment, wash in cold water using mild detergent and hand or lay flat to dry. If your item contains the color red, use a color catcher sheet. For embellished garments (embroidered or vinyl), use a pressing cloth to protect the graphic from the iron. I highly recommend you use a teflon sheet, the same as what garment decorators use with heat presses. You can find these on Amazon, Ebay and other retailers at a reasonable price.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If you would like your order gift wrapped, please contact me regarding your purchase. There may be an additional charge for this service. Also, it may increase the shipping rate on the item purchased.

**Marking your order as a gift simply means that no invoice will be included with your order.

I am happy to include a note from you with the order. Just leave the gift message in the message to SimplieGirlieDesigns area during checkout.

Discounts

Given the handmade nature of each item, I only provide discounts on group orders of 10 or more items. Discount code for 10-19 items is GROUP10. Code for 20+ items is GROUP20. Other discount codes may be available for group orders of 30 or more. Discount codes only work when the total number of items IN YOUR CART exceeds 10 or 20 items depending on the code used.

I also have a special discount code I send out for use on future orders when you include a photograph with your item review. ;)
