From hobby to full time job!
Hola, soy Kirsty y soy la dueña de Simply Divine Things. Todo empezó en 2011, cuando un accidente me dejó sin poder caminar y en reposo absoluto durante muchos meses. De puro aburrimiento, empecé a hacer marcapáginas personalizados y pequeños dibujos de tela para mi mesita de noche, y abrí una tienda en eBay para venderlos. Mi hijo, que por aquel entonces era pequeño, fue una inspiración y quería hacer más cosas para su habitación. Empecé a coser cojines a mano, ya que no sabía usar máquina de coser, ¡y tampoco tenía una! A medida que mejoraba y volví a caminar, me compré una máquina de coser y aprendí a coser con ella. Abrí mi tienda de Etsy en 2015, pero no empecé a vender hasta 2017.
El negocio ha ido creciendo poco a poco y en enero de 2015 lo convertí en mi trabajo a tiempo completo, adaptando una habitación de mi casa como taller. El año 2020/21 fue una época de vértigo para todos, y Simply Divine Things cambió considerablemente. En octubre de 2020, el negocio se quedó pequeño y me mudé a un local aparte, para alegría de mi pareja, ya que la casa ya no está llena de telas.
En 2025 lanzaremos muchos productos nuevos y, lamentablemente, retiraremos algunos ya existentes. Además, ahora tengo una tienda en Market Street 23, Brighouse, HD6 1AP, donde puedes comprar mis productos y los de otros fabricantes del Reino Unido.
Hi, I'm Kirsty, and I own Simply Divine Things. It all began in 2011 when an accident left me unable to walk and on bed rest for many months. Out of sheer boredom I began to make personalised bookmarks and little fabric pictures on my bedside cabinet and set up a shop on Ebay to sell them in. My then toddler son was an inspiration and I wanted to make more things for his room. I started to hand-sew cushions as I coudn't use a sewing machine and neither did I own one! As I got better and started to walk again, I got a sewing machine and learned how to sew with it. I set up my Etsy store in 2015 but didn't start selling in it until 2017.
The business has grown bit by bit and in January 2015 I made it my full time job, accommodating a bedroom at home as my workroom. 2020/21 was a whirlwind time for all us, and Simply Divine Things changed considerably. In October 2020 the business outgrew my home and I moved into separate business premises, much to my other half's delight as the house is no longer full of fabric!
2025 will see the release of lots of new products, and sadly the retirement of some existing ones. Plus I have a shop now at 23 Market Street, Brighouse, HD6 1AP where you can shop mine and other UK makers products!
