About

Revealing the soul of the wood

Though he enjoyed the thrill of wildland firefighting, Andris' true passion lies in revealing the soul of the wood, stone, or other materials he works with to create unique items that last a lifetime. Our family likes to play cribbage when we get together so we needed a board where several players could easily join the game and we wouldn't forget the direction of play when we got to talking. Andris noticed the poor quality of boards made with a milling machine and began making his own. Rather than going with a single plank style, he laminates three different types of wood to create designs that are practical and beautiful. Much of the work is done by hand which gives Andris the opportunity to scrutinize his own work and make design improvements.

Boards with curly or spalted maple began from his firewood pile--handsplit with a hatchet to check their potential. The wild cherry, fiddleback maple, and spruce is locally milled from small business owners--with the fiddleback and spruce coming from Pacific Tonewoods. If you buy from this shop, you ARE going green. Black walnut is salvaged from an orchard in Oregon. The wood we salvage never had it so good--hand shaping, hand drilling, sanding, polishing and freehand carving on the skunk. Andris guarantees his workmanship. By the time you see a board on this site, it's seen hours of tender loving care and you notice the difference. If you know where we live, come see us at the shop. Andris is willing to do custom orders if you are willing to wait. And yes, if you are in Latvia, you get a shipping discount...long live the homeland!

Shipping
All items are shipped USPS. More costly items are insured and tracked. Cribbage boards are wrapped with bubble wrap and placed in a custom cardboard box. Cribbage pegs are shipped in a small ziplock and either placed inside the bubble wrap (if shipped with a board), or in a padded envelope (if shipped separately). We had to raise our international shipping rates to more accurately reflect actual cost. International postal rates seemed high to us, so our international buyers are getting their packaging for free on peg orders. You can choose expedited shipping for added cost when you order. We will calculate actual costs at the time of shipping and refund any overages.
Refunds and Exchanges
If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase, please contact me. If you find that the workmanship is defective or merchandise was damaged in transit I will work out a refund or exchange with you depending upon circumstances. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs and proper packaging. Please include the reason for your dissatisfaction so I can continue to improve my products in the future.
