About

BoRn iN The WronG ErA

I started my shop due to my love of everything early..a reason for fabric and button finds..an excuse for buying them..lol...I also love the idea of the broad range my items can reach..I have a storefront located in my home town that I use as my studio.
We live a very simple life..even heating our EarLy and PRiMitiVe 1850??? Four Brick thick Farmhouse with wood..fixing the fire every four hours..as I am sure The Huss family of Lancaster ,Pa. did ...who traveled by covered wagon in the midst of oncoming OHiO Winter .. with 6 children.. arriving in OHio the month of September 1824...building a log cabin on the 1200 acres Noah had purchased...cultivating and clearing the land while keeping his family safe from the Seneca Indian tribe just a hop and skip down the road...finally building the 14 room house we call the "OLD BRICK BEAUTY"... that is nothing fancy..but a palace to us...this keeps me in the sLow life style... OhiO area I love...so began my interest in hand sewing...yes there is an electric machine on hand...but I find I am ripping out more than sewing...I am a firm believer in not destroying antique textiles but preserving them..so I only use what cannot be salvaged or purchase textiles that another who has been brave enough to cut into..
I also hand pour beeswax items..using antique maple sugar molds...offering KinDLy mY HoLidAy FinEry in the changing seasons...paper tags..antique looking sewing ware..lavender filled strawberries strung among sweet bay leaves into garlands...and wall pockets..a so favorite of mine...

Welcome to my little Esty shop. I proudly stand behind living simply and creating new, with of course an "early look" handmade out of discarded old textiles. I am a firm believer in only using textiles that are beyond repair, as I hate to see all the quilts, coverlets, and linens that are sliced in half and sold for profit. This takes from our past, and destroy a once glorious piece that some individual spent many a hour. handsewing.
