About

Slow Clothing

I learned to sew in Junior High School, and got out of PE by fixing my teacher's sweats...who needs PE, I'd rather sew! I continued on to Fashion Institute of Technology where I learned pattern making, refined my sewing skills and learned about fabric. Moving to SF, I discovered Fat Activism, and i am a proud Fat Activist! I started my first biz there, boxers and robes for fat folks. In moving back to NY, I felt like designing more femme clothing, and Size Queen was born. Now, back on the West Coast in Portland OR, I have a beautiful studio space where i can create to my hearts content.
I like the term slow clothing, since that is what I do, one garment at a time, design, make the pattern, cut, sew, delivered. Sometimes I re-grade vintage patterns and make them out of new fabrics, sometimes I take new designs and use vintage fabrics. Each piece is hand made...hand put together...made for you.
I love colorful fabrics, vintage fabrics, sparkly fabrics...actually, I love most fabric. I also love clothes that fit well, and are comfortable to wear. Custom, alternative wedding, costume...if you have an idea, I would love to turn it into reality.
