Announcement   I make short and long porcelain necklaces, dangle ceramic earrings and ceramic studs. I use often calming gray and white color, mint green, strong yellow, light blue and the most gentle pink. I love teardrop or raindrop shapes that are often to find in my jewelry. Very important for me is the perfect glaze and if you have a closer look you will notice cracks on the surface. For that I use specific glaze and apply it by tipping it with a small brush. Sometimes I open the kiln before it is completely cooled so that thermal shock causes even more cracks.
Every piece is designed by me and handcrafted from scratch.

Shipped by standard mail (if you would like registered mail with tracking number just add shipping upgrade to your Chart)

About

Inspired by clay and glaze.

Hi, my name is Jelena. I was lucky to be born and raised in Split at the Croatian Adriatic coast, a beautiful European-Mediterranean summer destination. The city developed from a palace that roman Cesar Dioklecian built 1700 years ago to retire from public life in Rome and spend his old days on a little peninsula. Imagine yourself in a summer dress, with a straw hat and sandals on your feet, standing on hot stones of an old roman palace, tasting the sea in the air ... this is where I come from, this lightness is in my nature and in everything I do.

I love glaze; it is actually melted glass surrounding the ceramic piece. I love how it shines on the sun and fills with light. I love when it cracks on the surface and sometimes, during burning, it forms a drop or even catches tiny bubbles of air inside. This is something that can not be completely influenced, so it is not just me who makes the piece, it makes itself and it is always a surprise how it comes out. This is the best part.

How did I get here…
I learned to work with clay from experienced academic artists and I knew right away that ceramic is my medium. But all my vases and other things you do when you learn pottery techniques were very small and thin. So I tried to make jewelry and I found myself.
To my great satisfaction I became a part of a group of ceramicists and we opened a gallery to sell our handmade work. We arranged the interior, packaging of products and did work as sales personal. Since some years I live in Germany where I came to live with my husband and I became a mom of a little boy. My ceramic jewelry can now be found here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Skelini?ref=si_shop

Additional policies and FAQs
Please understand that colors may vary from the computer display. I try to get the most accurate color, but screens vary, too.
I have made everything in my shop, from idea to end product. After modeling and drying the clay, I burn it in ceramic oven on more than 1000 C°, and then I color it, glaze it and baked once again. Working with ceramic is process that lasts, but also the product is made to last a very long time.
