Our story begins 16 years ago, when we, Amit and Misha, founded our first company, Sky Design (www.skydesign.in) and worked on very serious and large client and corporate projects for 7 years. While the service business was successful, we yearned to do something that created value for people and was fun for us, too. In 2013, we experimented with paper and made some DIY toys and calendars. We published these on our Etsy shop in September 2013. We got a fabulous response to our work from customers across the world, and were thrilled when our work was featured on the Etsy Blog, Disney’s www.babble.com and www.thisiscolossal.com; all the sales and recognition nudged us further into the world of Paper Craft.

Over the next few years, Sky Goodies grew loads, and we shut our other ventures down (That was really scary!) to focus on our Sky Goodies products full-time. We're grateful for flattering features from prestigious magazines like Vogue, Elle Decor, Brand, and Lonely Planet; and from lovely blogs like MessyNessyChic.com, Buzzfeed.com, Papercrave.com; and from Etsy itself, for featuring us multiple times. We have executed many large and small custom projects for brands, including design and manufacturing; we had a lot of fun making Barbie DIY Kits for Mattel Inc, and DIY kits for brands we admire, like National Geographic.

We have a small shop in a quaint village in the huge metropolis that is Mumbai, in India. (Please do visit us if you are around!) We are a small team, with different interests and expertise. Creating products for Sky Goodies is an explorative process. An idea can be triggered by an image, a view, a conversation, or a discussion. We put together our ideas, and shortlist ones which would fit into our collection, qualify as ‘goodies’ and make people happy. Then we start executing ideas. Sometimes it can be a quick process to turn an idea into a finished product. We explore many alternatives till we arrive at the best solution. We take particular care to perfect the templates to find the balance between good form and ease of use. We also make sure that our products either have uses or are interactive.

The biggest inspiration for us is India, the country we live in, which is full of wonderful chaos, color, traditional and pop art forms. Some of our products are decorated in the style of Indian Pop Art and Street Art. We had been documenting the vanishing art of hand-painted trucks in India for the past many years, just for ourselves. A lot of the colors, textures and patterns in our work, are inspired by this art form. 

Our aim is to encourage people to use their hands and find joy in small things.
