My Philosophy
Ik maak en ontwerp kostuums sinds 1999 voor theater, Renaissance Faires, korsetliefhebbers en re-enactors. Mijn doel bij SkyeLine Design is om producten van goede kwaliteit aan te bieden voor een verscheidenheid aan lichamen tegen betaalbare prijzen. In het geval van mijn historische reproducties, ondersteun ik mijn werk ook met 20 jaar academisch historisch onderzoek om kledingstukken te maken waar je trots op kunt zijn om te dragen.
HISTORISCHE REPRODUCTIES: Ik heb 20 jaar ervaring in het onderzoeken en produceren van historische kostuums. Ik gebruik bijna uitsluitend natuurlijke vezels en ik zal altijd duidelijk zijn over wanneer en waarom synthetische stoffen in mijn historische kleding verschijnen. Kleuren en patronen worden zorgvuldig gekozen om geschikt te zijn voor de periode die wordt weergegeven. Zichtbare stiksels boven de taille worden meestal met de hand genaaid; mijn zomen zijn allemaal machinaal genaaid, tenzij handnaaiwerk wordt gevraagd als onderdeel van een aangepaste bestelling - dit wordt volledig gedaan om mijn jassen betaalbaar te houden. Ik heb historisch nauwkeurige toga's gemaakt voor het midden van de 18e tot de late 19e eeuw.
RENAISSANCE FAIRE: Mijn Renaissance Faire-producten - korsetten, jurken en meer - zijn allemaal gemaakt met duurzaamheid in gedachten. Goed gemaakte, stevige kleding zal het meest flatterend zijn voor bijna elk figuur. Ik gebruik bijna uitsluitend stalen uitbening en vermijd grotendeels elastiek (dat uiteindelijk veroudert en uit vorm rekt). Bodices en korsetten zijn gevoerd voor sterkte. Mijn Renaissance Fair-kleding kan zijn inspiratie halen uit historische silhouetten en details, maar bevat veel van de smaak en het plezier van fantasie.
KORSETTEN EN ANDERE CURIOSITEITEN: Ik maak korsetten sinds 2002 en heb me tien jaar lang grotendeels gericht op midden- tot late 19e-eeuwse stijlen. Ik gebruik uitsluitend stalen uitbening in mijn korsetten en heb werk geproduceerd voor bruiloften, re-enactors en korsetliefhebbers. Mijn nieuwsgierigheid leidt me ook naar een grotere verscheidenheid aan 20e-eeuwse stijlen, waaronder de jurken uit de jaren 1920 en het Bombshell-tijdperk.
I've been creating and designing costumes since 1999 for theater, Renaissance Faires, corset-lovers, and reenactors. My goal at SkyeLine Design is offer good quality products for a variety of bodies at affordable prices. In the case of my historical reproductions, I also back my work up with 20 years of academic historical research to create garments that you can feel proud to wear.
HISTORIC REPRODUCTIONS: I have 20 years of experience researching and producing historic costumes. I use almost exclusively natural fibers, and I will always be clear about when and why synthetics appear in my historical clothes. Colors and patterns are carefully chosen to be appropriate for the time period being represented. Visible stitching above the waist is usually hand sewn; my hems are all machine sewn unless hand sewing is requested as part of a custom order--this is done entirely to help keep my gowns affordable. I have created historically-accurate gowns for the mid-18th to the late-19th centuries.
RENAISSANCE FAIRE: My Renaissance Faire products--corsets, dresses, and more--are all made with durability in mind. Well-made, sturdy clothes will be the most flattering to almost every figure. I use almost exclusively steel boning and largely avoid elastic (which ages and stretches out of shape eventually). Bodices and corsets are lined for strength. My Renaissance Fair clothing may take its inspiration from historical silhouettes and details but includes much of the flavor and fun of fantasy.
CORSETS AND OTHER CURIOSITIES: I have been making corsets since 2002 and for ten years focused largely on middle to late 19th century styles. I use exclusively steel boning in my corsets and have produced work for weddings, reenactors, and corset enthusiasts. My curiosity also leads me to a wider variety of 20th century styles, including the 1920s and Bombshell-era dresses.
