About

SkyeLine Designs

Way back in 2000, all I wanted to do was make corsets. And wear corsets. And I had this crazy dream that I would one day own a drawer full of fabulous corsets. So I set out to learn to make them. I had already been sewing since I was little--everything from doll clothes to a fabulous wool cloak that I still wear--and I had recently finished up a few costume design and construction courses while wrapping up my BA.

Well I made my first corset with only a few snags, and it just kind of went crazy from there. Before I knew it, I DID have a drawer full of corsets, and if I wanted to keep making them, I was going to have to get some out of the house. And that's how I began selling them.

Fast forward a decade and a half, and I've completed an MA in History Museum Studies, been lucky enough to (gently) dig through mound of historic costume in a variety of museums, and have dedicated fifteen years and hundreds of dollars to the study of historic costume, which comes in handy since I have begun a living history program at my museum (which is my day job).

I love to produce costumes from the 18th and 19th century with the occasional foray into the early 20th century. Corsets are still my first love, and my drawer full of fabulous corsets has expanded into a wardrobe of 200 years of costumes that I also use for historic "UnderWear?" lectures that I have given around New York State since 2010.
