About SleepingCatCreations

From sewing clothes to making quilts and then designing patterns

In the early 1970s, my newly divorced Mom turned to what she knew. She bought a sewing machine and began to sew for money. She continued to sew for other people until I was in high school. I learned at an early age and sewed all my own clothes through junior and high school and into college. When I married, I sewed curtains for every room in our house.

In 2003 or 2004 (I didn’t think to put a label on my first quilt), I took a class to learn to make my first quilt. It was a queen sized Irish Chain quilt and it was far from an “easy” first quilt. But what did I know? Once I discovered quilting, I was hooked. Some of my quilts have won awards, and I eventually began teaching quilting.

A commission in 2012 to make a quilt from a bundle of 8 coordinating fat quarters became the impetus for my pattern, Fat Quarter Twist. This pattern has been the best selling of all my patterns, and I've made it at least a dozen times. Most of my patterns are sold through Checker Distributors to local quilt shops (or can be bought directly from me).

I sell my patterns here, and I also sell quilts.

Welcome!

My mom was a professional seamstress, so I've been sewing for as long as I can remember. In the early 2000s, I took a quilting class; I was hooked. From there, I made quilts that won awards, began teaching quilting, and started designing patterns.
