SlowArtStudio's Shop Announcement

The cover of a journal is important, but what really matters is the quality of the paper inside.
I love to draw and color. That's why I started making my own sketchbooks and journals with amazing, high-quality artists' papers; then I started making them for others, too.

Each book is hand made and hand stitched, one at a time.
I love to employ a variety of binding styles, including 'traditional European' Case Bindings, Coptic stitching, Longstitch variations and some things I may have made up. The quality of the materials is what inspires me most.

I recycle books being thrown out by 3 local libraries, plus our local recycling center, which means that the titles that come into the studio are quite random...which I love!
However, I'm happy to convert any book into your dream journal and customers often mail favorite books to me....
I get some of my best ideas from collaborating with YOU.
If you don't see what you're envisioning after looking through my shop, feel free to contact me about custom projects.
I strive to keep my prices affordable, but please don't hesitate to ask about quantity discounts or trades.

See individual listings for more information. Do your research. If you want something made with a specific type of paper, please ask! I'm always up for learning more, and helping others be more creative.

Shipping is 'media mail' unless otherwise requested, or in the case of a multiple order, may be first class or priority. I always provide a tracking number when possible.
Each package is wrapped up with care. Tell me your deadline, and I will work with you as much as I can!

All proceeds go towards the Slow Art Studio & Bindery on Lopez Island, where I'm recycling old books, papercrafting and making art, and helping other people make books and art, too. Spread the creative love!

If you have no idea what to do with a blank journal, Danny Gregory has a few amazing books on this topic.

Check out my website featuring a complete portfolio of original hand painted signs, Kuntri Gurl Comix, pen & ink art and more!
Or better yet, visit Lopez Island, come to my studio, and I'll tell you the best spots to go in the amazing San Juan Islands.
