Announcement   Now offering FREE SHIPPING in the domestic US!
Please contact me with any questions or confusion as I adjust my shop settings.

Custom Travel Journals and other personalized book projects for the holidays should be ordered no later than the end of November! Just sayin'...

Can you send me a hard-cover to make into a journal or sketchbook?
Absolutely, yes!
But check with me first, anyhow.

Your custom painted or handwritten name, monogram or inscription is included with each journal or sketchbook. It can be outside or inside the book, in waterproof acryllic paint, or ink. Contact me for details. If you don't ask, it won't happen.

Slow Art Studio started in a school-bus house on Lopez Island in 1999, and I've been on Etsy since 2009!
Everything in my shop is designed, drawn or made by me, currently in a Victorian house in La Conner, Washington. Here I have a working bookbinding studio, a classroom space and a grass-roots, brick and mortar shop "Book, Paper & Ink Arts."
Please come by and say hello if you are travelling through the Skagit Valley, and sign up for (or come and teach) a book arts class if you live closer by.

Making things by hand is slow and my inventory is for sale in many places, so please don't hesitate to ask me to hold something for you!
If it suddenly disappears from Etsy, I've sold it in person. Sorry!
No duplicates are made here.

Yes, I am interested in bulk or wholesale orders and consignment sales. Contact me for details.

Additionally, as I work out shipping costs for combinations of various items, please know I will refund any over-payment as soon as possible. If something seems off, contact me! I treat my customers very well. Shop small!

Cheers, Brenna Jael

Spring Sale!
I'm in need of a lot of supplies for the upcoming season, so I've moved a lot of Journals into the "on sale" section of my shop and temporarily lowered prices on many other items.
Check it out and happy Spring...

About

Sketchbooks & Journals for artists, writers, and low-tech creativity...anyplace, anytime, no recharging necessary

When I started my Etsy shop in 2009, Etsy wasn't quite as well known as it is now.
I didn't even make journals yet, I just had some crocheted hats and stuff.
I didn't start making significant sales until about 2012 (So stick with it, if you are just starting out!). I lived on a small, isolated island and being able to share my art worldwide and make a little extra money was an amazing gift.
Wow, I have learned a lot and even started a brick-and-mortar shop and book-arts center since then! I moved off the Island to a nearby art-centric town, La Conner, WA.
I'm about 7 years into making journals and I'm still obsessed. I love to use the random books and maps that libraries are throwing out. I love the feedback and ideas I get from my customers.
Overall, I'm full of gratitude, and excited to see what happens next!
