Seller is amazing - helped with every question I had! Product looked exactly how it was shown, and delivery (to Aus) took no time at all.
Preserving the Past & Looking Forward
Do you dream of living in an old house in the country? I had that dream from the time I was quite young.
"Leap, and the net will appear" has long been one of my favourite sayings. Finally, in 1998, in my late 40s, I took the plunge. I leapt – from Toronto to a simple old heritage home built in 1855 located in a tiny hamlet by a small lake. My leap turned out to be a pivotal point in my life.
Inspired by the story of my house and its builders, as well as my surroundings, I immersed myself in learning some of the artisanal crafts of past generations.
In the following years I caned 300 chair seats, wove baskets, made soap and beeswax candles, sewed, knit, crocheted and hooked rugs, all in the traditional ways, and all a part of the dream. The wee shop in the front parlour of my house enjoyed visits from many delightful people.
A few years ago I inherited boxes and boxes of beautiful antique linens and children's toys and whatnot when my mother moved to a retirement home (she's now 97) – some were even from her mother! A friend suggested Etsy and I found my feet in my first shop selling many of those vintage treasures. Then I opened this shop, combining vintage with simple, useful items I make myself echoing the integrity of past generations.
Thanks for visiting – I hope you enjoy this small exploration into my world. May your dreams come true, too.
