Meet the Owner of SmilingBlueDog

Angie Spearman

owner, maker, designer, curator, A one person shop (and my husband helps with my packaging & shipping :)

I'm always making something... always have and hopefully, always will.
It's so rewarding to me knowing that I've made so many people happy with my handmade works. The grateful e-mails I get from my customers are priceless and motivating.

Sparkly, colourful & little things like beads, are my magnets. I'm always collecting them in different colours, shapes and sizes. It's only natural that I'd be making jewelry, charms, and painting when I can.
I especially love making my wedding bouquet, memorial charms ... they're not just for brides, but are the perfect size for a bouquet. They are a dignified & lovely way to remember someone dear any time and are an easy and intimate Do It Yourself (DIY) project, but I have added the option for me to "do the photo for you" since I've had many requests for that service.
I know my memorial charms will be a meaningful keepsake to someone so I take care making each one, inspecting each bead and frame before I make a charm with them. (The freshwater pearls are the most interesting, as they come in so many variations but it's hard to know when a variation could be viewed as a flaw.)

You can see what some of my customers say, on my blog:

My family has been very supportive of me and my shop over the years, and recently my husband has taken on some of my jobs, like cutting my business/ charm cards, making my packaging and he does most of my shipping now.

I've done many craft sales over the years and opened my first on-line shop with Etsy in 2008. I had 4 handmade clay animals, an economical digital camera and a lot of hope for my on-line venture.
My 1st sale was so exciting, and a big learning experience! My customer was so thrilled with it... that was the best part!
That's always been the best part!
I've expanded my shop to over 130 items and I am always open to Custom orders.
Contact me if you have any questions, comments or just to say hello, I'd love to hear from you.
Welcome & come on in: :)
Wondering about my shop name?
Years ago, I was trying to set up my e-mail address on Yahoo. Every name I tried had already been taken, and I'd wasted a lot of time without succeeding!
Our dog (Spike) needed to go outside. As I got up, he smiled at me and was so excited to finally be going outside. In the sunlight his black coat shone almost blue. He was my smiling blue dog when we went inside, I tried it and no one else had that name so I claimed it.
Just Google " smilingbluedog " and my blog/Twitter/Etsy/ and more should show up :)
