Snappy Tatter-my tiny tatted empire

Snappy Tatter opened in April 2009 as a part-time outlet to sell my lace-work and fiber art. I was soon invited to join the Blue Heron Art Gallery in Volant, PA, where I sold my work and was a resident artist from 2009-2011. Over time I have expanded from lacework jewelry to small fiber art works, as well as photography and digital paintings, drawings and Mandalas you can color. You can purchase ready made lacework and read stories about my life at my website: WWW.SNAPPYTATTER.COM
You can purchase my photography, digital paintings and drawings, and Mandalas at WWW.JENNIFER-KOHR.PIXELS.COM

My tiny empire grows everyday as my work is purchased from patrons around the world. I have competed in local fairs, garnering awards from first place to honorable mention and the coveted Judge's Choice awards. Snappy Tatter lacework has been in magazines like the October 2012 issue of Country Living Magazine and recently, the 2019 issue of IOLI's (International Organization of Lace, Inc) annual magazine. My lacework has been requested for charities, interior design, display pieces for lacework conventions, and many, many, weddings!

I learned to shuttle-tat through my chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America nearly twenty years ago. I have been designing my own tatting for about 12 years and have been drawing, painting, and designing original fiber art and embroidery since 1989. I recently began to use Corel digital software to create Mandalas you can color as well as digital paintings, and drawings. You can find all of these works as well as my photography at www.jennifer-kohr.pixels.com. You can find galleries of all the works that I create and purchase ready made jewelry and fiber art on my website: WWW.SNAPPYTATTER.COM.

My work is frequently inspired by the natural elements as well as modern styles that I find attractive. I am always trying to push the boundaries of traditional tatting and embroidery techniques to bring my ideas to life. Snappy Tatter designs are whimsical and sweet, striking, chic and glamorous. I am fascinated with creating three-dimensional work and patterns that closely represent actual flowers, leaves, butterflies and even "tatterpillars"!

My home is in a wee town in the high deserts of Idaho. My husband and I bought a small A-frame home much like the cabin we lived in in Washington. We live a simple life with our two cats, two guinea piggies and our busy border collie. Surrounded by the mountains and high desert, I find much inspiration in our local travels.

I am truly grateful and feel incredibly blessed for the gift of creativity that I have been given. I hope you enjoy my work and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Frequently asked questions
Can you make items in different colors or sizes?

I can create most jewelry in various sizes and have many different color options for thread, beads and metal finishes. Contact me if you are interested in custom work, bridal work or multiples of the same design. I am always happy to accommodate my customers as much as I possibly can. All J Kohr Couture designs are one-of-a kind and cannot be changed or duplicated. VISIT MY OTHER SHOP FOR READY TO SHIP ITEMS: WWW.SNAPPYTATTER.COM

Is tatting durable?

Shuttle tatting is a knotted lace technique that is very durable. It does not unravel like crochet or other types of lace. Many designs can be worn for years with simple care. I have my own jewelry and watches that are 10 years old and in great shape like they are new.

how long does it take to shuttle-tat lace?

Shuttle tatting takes 3-5 times longer to create something of similar size that is crocheted. It is a process of tying tiny knots over and over with a small shuttles. Work is created in rounds or in rows. My elaborate J Kohr Couture designs can take days to design and create. Simple earrings can take up to an hour. All work is priced based on time and cost of materials.
