This seller is very creative and original in her crafts. This Halloween framed picture with cross stitch is an example of this. Very interesting and clever picture.
How SnowBerryNeedleArts Began....
About 20 years ago, my husband and I were exploring our new home state with our two infant daughters in tow. Pushing strollers we entered one bungalow filled to the rafters with antiques, another cottage converted into a local gallery, a former roadside gas station now an ice cream shop, and off the beaten path, a small cabin that had taken on a new life as a needlework and framing shop. I recall entering the cabin and marveling at the treasures displayed on the walls. Beautiful and meticulously crafted stitching with leanings toward country and primitive looks were displayed quite literally from floor to ceiling. One piece struck me so completely and has stuck in my mind to this day: A cross stitched birds nest with a single speckled egg nestled inside. In my mind, a true work of art. The delicate stitching flowed from the center of the nest outward, and the framing…twigs, feathers, fibers, and leaves picked up where the stitching ended. Up to that point I had somehow believed that all stitched work belonged in a frame and maybe spiced up with one or two coordinating mats. This little piece made me look at finishing in a whole new way. Before I could ask questions or chat with the artisan that completed this piece, our little bundles got antsy and we continued on our way. We went back a few months later, and this little cabin was again transformed back into a cabin…the shop was gone.
As I look back over the years, I have to credit this adventure and this shop with my inspiration and my desire to do what I do. The embroidered and cross stitch designs hold their own beauty and uniqueness and as I contemplate how to best showcase these individual designs, I am reminded that there are no steadfast rules, no right way or wrong way, that it’s so rewarding to think outside the box and experiment, and that the ultimate goal is creating a work of art…one that will become a keepsake and a treasure in the eye of the beholder…just like that birds nest of so long ago was to me.
