About

Snowdrift Alpacas Fiber Arts and Yarn

The spinning wheel, a quintessential icon of the pioneer days. When I got mine, I fell in love. Having a deep fascination with the image of the pioneer woman; that self-reliant individual who not only survived the hardships of living without modern conveniences, but the hidden artist who created beauty and expression by her handicraft.

When I sit at my wheel to spin yarn or take up needle and thread to hand stitch a soft toy, I often find myself reflecting on that past and the women whose actions I am repeating. Due to the textual element, fiber as a medium is a boundless source of inspiration. From developing my first pattern for hand sewn teddy bears, to felting and now with spinning yarn from my own alpacas, fiber calls to me. Having a finish piece made by own hands only encourages me.

My goal is to preserve those traditional techniques of our past generations by keeping them alive in today’s technological world. These hand crafted pieces reflect my evolution as I venture down the road as a fiber artist and a modern day pioneer woman.

I have a great admiration for the inner strength of the pioneer woman. As I work my small Montana farm, I hope that the legacy of those women's hard work and inner artistic ability is not lost in today's modern technologies.

Hello and welcome to my Etsy shop... I am excited and honored to have you here. I am a self-taught fiber artist in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Montana. I am continually inspired by my small alpaca farm to create and design various pieces/products; from hand stitched teddy bears and vintage-style animals using upcycled wool clothing to handspinnig alpaca yarn.

Additional policies and FAQs
All of my soft sculpture pieces are one of a kind due to the upcycled material I use, unless otherwise stated in the description. With my handspun yarn, I do list all available lengths and options currently available on that date to keep with the same "dye lot" or same yarn weight.

All items are from a smoke-free home, though pet-friendly as it is a farm. The only animals in the house are two border collie dogs on occasion.
