Making art that reflects the beauty and serenity of a walk in the woods.

So Many Flowers! was conceived of around 15 years ago. I wanted something to do that was creative and completely different from my day job. I've loved flowers and anything to do with flowers, forever. I've grown them, sold them, admired them, arranged them and studied them. Pressing them was new to me, however. I started small, collecting and pressing and making pictures and labeling the flowers. These proved to be rather popular and my enthusiasm for starting a business grew from there. Little by little I've increased my efforts, moved past the "hobby" definition and now call myself a business, creating pressed flower art. Previously the primary method of selling my work has been through craft shows and galleries. Now I am offering my work to the world, through Etsy!

Art for me is a constructive process based on my imagination and a thorough understanding of materials. When I prepare to design a picture, I have a particular frame in mind so the frame and picture complete an integrated piece of art. I begin with the bones of the picture, possibly trees, background mountains or other large objects, then complete the piece by filling in with the plants and flowers that would grow in that location. In my art, flowers and other botanicals serve as my paint, and my goal is to make the picture resemble and celebrate nature as we observe it.

My lifelong love of plants and flowers inspires me, daily, to make art that reflects the beauty and serenity of a walk in the woods.

Nature calls to me. It's my motivation for making art that reflects the natural world. The colors of wildflowers, textures of botanical materials, mountain vistas and landscapes all contribute to my inspiration. This variety makes each work unique.
