A Leap of Faith and Discovery

For years I dreamed about retiring from the crazy, hectic pace of the corporate world. In 2007 I took the leap, knowing that those first few months of leisure time would hopefully bring new discoveries about myself and the world. If someone had told me that journey would lead me to teaching myself to make my own silicone molds and hand-crafted soap treasures, I would have laughed. But, here I am and couldn't be happier! So, instead of suits and heels, it's jeans and T-shirts, with a small New York City apartment kitchen transformed into a mold and soap making factory.

Welcome to Soap Rhapsody! I’m glad you found my shop. Take a look at my profile to learn more about me:

To ensure the absolute highest quality, all items are made to order. For custom items you can send me a note and I’ll do my best to accommodate you, quote you a price and timetable for completion.

I use the finest high quality, natural vegetable glycerin soap bases. If any additives are used (Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E), they will be listed with the ingredients for the soap.

Some people have allergies to soap ingredients, colorants or fragrances. Please read carefully the ingredients listed for the product you are buying.

My soap bases:

• Are Hypo-Allergenic
• Are Vegan (contain no animal products)
• Are Cruelty-Free (not tested on animals)
• Use No Detergents
• Use No Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates (SLS)
• Use No Alcohol
• Are Biodegradable
• Are Paraben Free
• Are Kosher

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Oil, Glycerin (of vegetable origin), Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide (natural saponifying agent), Sorbitol (moisturizer), Sorbitan Oleate (naturally-derived emulsifier), Soybean or Oat Protein (conditioner) and Titanium Dioxide (natural mineral whitener used in opaque soaps), Cosmetic grade colorants (FDA-approved for use on skin, lips, eyes, face and nails), and fragrance or essential oils.

All ingredients are included on a label with each package.

A note about pricing: My prices are based on cost of raw materials (soap base, colorant, micas, fragrance oil or essential oil, cosmetic clays, beeswax, etc.) and level of difficulty to make the piece. Collections with multiple colored variations will cost more than a collection with all pieces made in the same color. The same is true of multi-color single pieces, which require more time. Mica colorants cost more than regular colors. Essential oils cost more than fragrance oils.

Returns and exchanges
If you are unhappy with your order for any reason please contact me within five working days of receiving your package. I will do my best to resolve the problem quickly. Refunds of open and/or used items are considered on a case-by-case basis.
I accept payment using PayPal or Etsy's Direct Checkout, in US Dollars.

Payment must be made in full before I make the item. If you are having any issues with PayPal or Etsy's Direct Checkout, please do not hesitate to contact me and I’ll assist you in any way I can.

As required by law, sales tax is added to all purchases shipped to New York addresses.
Depending on size, weight and volume, items are shipped in a gift box, pillow box, cellophane or polypropylene bag, which is then placed in a sturdy shipping box or bubble envelope. Most of Soap Rhapsody’s packaging, including labels, packing paper (often old newspapers), gift boxes and shipping boxes are made from reused or recycled materials.

To ensure the absolute highest quality, all items are made to order. Between January 1st and October 15th of each year I try to ship everything within four working days of receiving your payment. From the middle of October through Christmas, that lead time is likely to increase to seven working days. If there’s going to be a delay for any reason, I will let you know by email and/or convo. If you need rush delivery, let me know and I can likely accommodate your request (additional shipping charges may apply).

If you pay through PayPal, your package will be shipped to the address on your ETSY account. Let me know if you need to have it to sent to a different address via Etsy convo. I cannot be responsible for addresses you’ve entered incorrectly.

All items are shipped USPS First Class or USPS Priority Mail unless otherwise indicated. Within the continental United States, once your soap is made, mailed orders generally take between 4 and 6 business days to arrive (sometimes sooner). I will always attempt to find you the lowest shipping cost based on weight, volume and distance. If your final shipping costs are at least $1 less than you were charged, I will gladly refund the difference to you.

• All small items will be sent in a bubble mailer First Class.
• All other items will be sent USPS Priority Mail or USPS Flat Rate.
• All shipments will be sent with a tracking number.

I am not routinely shipping internationally, but will be happy to get information for international shipping rates should you require it. Send me a note so I can quote a price.

For international orders, the BUYER is responsible for all taxes and/or duty on incoming packages in keeping with the laws of their country and postal service.

If you have any questions about any of my items or policies please do not hesitate to contact me.

I am no longer accepting wholesale customers. As a one-woman operation I have found that I lack the bandwidth to fill wholesale orders.
