Algebra Educator turned Mama
Hey there!
I'm Lauren, a former Algebra teacher turned mom, and I'm thrilled to share my passion for design with you.
After becoming a mom and navigating the challenges of returning to school, I knew I wanted to find a way to stay home with my children. It was during those moments spent pumping in a dim closet during my lunch break that the spark of creativity ignited. Armed with my laptop and fueled by my love for my two kids, I began to create designs that spoke to my heart.
While my days are filled with the joyful chaos of parenting, that same passion for designing remains unwavering. I may not upload new designs as frequently as I'd like, but each creation is a labor of love. If you have an idea for a design I haven't yet created, please reach out! My turnaround time for new designs is typically a week.
You'll find a special emphasis on ASL and ASL interpreting designs in my shop. To address your curiosity, I'm a hearing individual. Although I'm not a certified interpreter, my connection with the deaf community at my church has inspired many of my designs. These designs are a reflection of my commitment to creating a platform for displaying deaf pride and advocacy.
I want to emphasize that my intention is never to harm or infringe upon the creative work of other deaf and hard-of-hearing creators. I've noticed a gap in ASL apparel, and my goal is to utilize my artistic skills to fill that void. I deeply respect the interpreting profession and the vibrant individuals it represents. To ensure accuracy and sensitivity, I collaborate closely with ASL interpreters and members of my local deaf community.
In this Etsy community, you'll find other wonderful shops run by deaf and hard-of-hearing creators. If your heart resonates with supporting the deaf community, I encourage you to explore those shops first. Your support makes a difference.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me and my family. Your presence here truly matters.
With gratitude,
Lauren
