About

The poetry of paper, from pulped to the jewel ..

Sognoametista "papier-mache" products develop from the ephemeral life of newspapers, chasing a long-lasting life and more significant shapes.

Creating is what makes me feel really happy, for so many years I dreamed of doing
it as a job and now I'm trying seriously , I feel fulfilled and my life has a different value.

Work with your hands and your mind it's pure freedom of expression , an exciting flight.

Sognoametista is born after a long journey.
I painted for many years experimenting with more technical self-taught learning the basics of ceramics as a decorator shaping the clay.I've always loved it but not having the option of buying a furnace where to bake my work, it
has always been difficult to follow this route.

After a period of artistic crisis and rejection of paintbrushes and colors,I started to write and do Theatre ( also painting the scenography of the musical of which I was part),and that's when I finally had an emotional release.
My first experiments in Papier Mache opened me a world that has become a life project and with this technique I discovered my true form of expression.
From that moment my path is wonderfully clear and I feel greatly motivated every single day!

The Papier Mache in Italy is known for making carnival masks and for children 's workshops
but it has a very limited use and it is also underestimated.
With Sognoametista I'll try to interpret this ancient technique in a modern key, totally out of the norm for which it is famous and offering sought shapes and unique creations.
Over time, I reworked my mixture making it almost as fine clay and modeling my every artifact,
often inspired to ceramics and its effects of texture and color.Unlike pottery, the Papier Mache has a great resistance to shocks, I dare to say that it is almost indestructible !

For my work I use 90 % of recycled paper for artifacts and the packaging.

Choosing a Sognoametista creation means understanding the value of the passion and the hand work involved, in order to give new forms and value to the paper that we throw away every day, forgetting about the trees they come from and their vital importance for our planet.

An artifact created with recycled paper carries with it the message that natural resources are not infinite and must not be wasted , my intent is to be able to demonstrate that beauty can be revealed through the creative metamorphosis of what we consider ugly, old or simply a useless waste.

And now visit my shop and tell me what you're thinking about
.. it is possible?

I love art in all its forms but Paper Mache is the most expressive form in which I recognize myself .. create the material, shape it and then paint it makes each piece a pure extension of my being.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real stones?

The stones are made of extremely light papier-mâché coming from recycled paper. They draw their inspiration from the ones we can see in nature, and thus their colour and decoration make them unique.

Does water ruin papier-mâché?

Papier-mâché is very resistant, and water doesn’t affect it much. Any object can in fact be cleaned with a moist or dry cloth. To ensure long life, avoid soaking papier-mâché and wearing jewels before applying perfumes or hair sprays. If the papier-mâché accidentally gets soaked and becomes soft, leave it to dry in the sun and it will return to its original consistency.

Is the wall clock easy to be positioned?

Yes, it is. Together with your clock, you will receive a practical scheme to help you position it correctly step by step. The adhesive is already included, and it is perfect also for walls with slight defects. If you have a particular wall and you are not sure whether the double sided foam tape will hold, contact me; together we will find the best solution for you. When you decide to paint your house, remove it and replace it with a specific one for hooks. You will easily find it in any DIY shop.

Is the clock mechanism quiet?

Yes, it is. The mechanism is a high quality and very quiet one. To completely reduce the noise, avoid assembling the second hand, following the indications on the positioning scheme. If the mechanism breaks, can I change it easily?

Sure, you will only need to turn to a clock repairer or contact me to have the original one. Before asking me to replace it, perform a test without the hands and check with the battery in it if the small wheel on the back turns. Be sure that the problem does not concern the hands: sometimes they touch each other and block the movement. If that’s the case, slightly bend them with your hands so that they can freely rotate.
