That Rocky Philadelphia thing, except less prize fighting and more art.

--- As in life, there is always some kind of ‘Antics’ going on... ---

Let's see... I am fort.. Eh hem.

I am a classically trained painter and sculptor, turned independent curator and entrepreneur, now pursuing degree in Art History/ Contemporary Curatorial studies. I am also a mother of four totally incorrigible maniacs that are a reminder of how great life can be and help keep my views in check and knowledge up to date.

Starting over... Had an installation/ contextual art gallery for nearly two decades in Old City, Philadelphia, until fraud and corruption snatched success from our grasp.

To cope with the loss of our home and business, I subconsciously perhaps, did what I knew. I began drawing. Then, seeking inspiration (and at times direction), I looked within and then around me. I remembered the drawings of an imaginary world that I once knew as a child. I would doodle little ants in the margins of my notebooks when daydreaming in school. Usually the ants were scaling the pages, trying to escape the material, but generally, they were occupied in a profession of some kind. Families of ants, with diverse backgrounds and interests worked together as a community to conquer obstacles.(Just as I saw them do in life, and as I thought people should.) After much cajoling, and the persistent behest of my husband, I revisited the kind and innocent world of the ants; drawing in part from past experiences, actual historic lessons and some from social observation.

I(we) sought to represent the utopian world that I had come to know through the eyes of these industrious and cooperative six legged friends. My husband urged me to develop these themes further into a more pragmatic and even educational microcosm of world culture. I could make accessible(even superficially) the accomplishments of scientists, thinkers, leaders and philanthropists as well as other notable historical figures to kids and young adults(even adults) - thus, making fact learning, name recognition, historical accomplishments and even early vocabulary acquisition less daunting or intimidating for our children today. (Lofty, eh?)

As I mentioned I have four children+, boys to be specific. They are as disparate as they can be. I have an Athlete - who is good with his hands and off on his own, a talented Musician/ future Game Designer/ Internet Trend Journeyman, an Intellectual / Geek - Gamer and Martial Artist(3rd Degree Black Belt), and a mature and social, well-rounded 10-year-old aspiring comedian little-league(pitcher/catcher) future astronomer that seems to tie the whole lot together...

Being my children, and inspiration, their collective identities have been somewhat distilled and remodeled into aspects of certain characters in one or more of the semi-autobiographical Antics families in the BLOmics (is that a word? blog-comics?) on the site.

(The site is being reserved for further educational development... in due time Padawan.)*

I hope that you will find these gentle, lovable friends of mine as life affirming and comforting as I have...

* The term Padawan is owned by LucasFilm, and its unnecessary appearance here is strictly to taunt my husband... (Who does the scanning, retouching, opaquing and illustrating for all the ANTcillary type items, punning, site upkeep and assists in coffee-making and child-rearing, kinda. Did I leave anything out? God, he's a pain!)

+No offspring or spouses were harmed in the production of these endeavors.(to my knowledge)

++ All names found throughout the Blomics and the apparel, accessories and housewares have been changed to protect the innocent.

After a childhood heavily influenced by the work of Charles M Shultz, School House Rock and perhaps Sergio Aragonés, Kat, the principal illustrator of The Antics from Ant-Land, spent many an hour of ‘drawing in the margins’ of her lesson books in and out of the classroom.
The Antics* civilization is a complex society in which teamwork, sportsmanship, culture and history serve as a back-story for all their, well…antics. Parents will be proud to collect a wide range of wares illustrating influential and intellectual icons, in celebration of pro-social behavior, life lessons and our human(t) history
*Antics: based on contemporary editorial cartoons(or blomics) by AKA META, focus on education through history, family, and modern social dynamics. The cartoons create a humorous yet tolerant platform that encourages communication between parents and their children, giving voice to modern concerns and addressing the navigability of contemporary issues.

Returns and exchanges
If an item is broken or ruined in shipment, we will replace or refund so long as you contact us within a week of receipt and can provide a picture of the damage for insurance purposes. If you have received the wrong item somehow, please contact us through convo and email and we will ship out a replacement ex post haste.

A refund will gladly be given once the item is returned to us in the same condition it left us in, minus the shipping costs. We must be notified of a return within (7) days after shipment.

Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.

*International Customers: we do not have tracking for your order, only proof of shipment in the form of a customs declaration number that was emailed to you. Please contact your local postal office and your regional customs office with that number if your item has not arrived within 21 business days (of shipped notification). If you have sent an item to another party as a gift you must let them know to expect an overseas package as our experience has shown that many of these are returned unclaimed. If your package has not arrived within 6-8 weeks of shipping, we will issue you a full refund for the item only. If a package is returned to us as unclaimed with notations of delivery attempts, we will refund the cost of the item. If you enter an incorrect address on your order, you will need to assume the costs associated with reshipment. We try to be reasonable as we expect this from others, so please contact us directly in order to remedy any issue.
Here is some basic stuff, which is followed by more interesting yet still fairly dry reading…

Paypal or direct checkout (credit card)
Still no BitCoin, and probably will not be, sorry...

Basically, once an item is payed for we ship it either that day or the moment we finish making it.
That can sometimes be three days or so, depending on our schedules as we both work and go to school.

However we are quite duty bound to the integrity of our little Etsy shop and we want to treat others as they might treat us. So we pay attention and we work hard.

+ If you live in NJ you will be charged sales tax +

If somehow you feel that you have placed and order in error please reach out through Etsy conversations as soon as possible, so that we can resolve any issue, concern or if need be make a cancellation(refund).

Please do reach out to us with any questions comments or requests and we will do our very best to help/make/fulfill what we can!
Etsy now has a shipping calculator like some other e-commerce venues. However, when you purchase more than one item, the total does not adjust and will appear disproportionately large!

Because of this - if you are ordering multiple items we will refund the appreciable difference in shipping.
This means that when you purchase more than one item, the total will not adjust at checkout.
If you would like to know exact costs prior to order fulfillment, please make your purchase and in the "note to seller" field ask me to confirm costs with you before shipping.
+ International Customers- a recent postal rate increase in the USA has made some of my items more expensive to ship than the item themselves.
We are investigating less expensive ways to post to those of you who would like to order overseas, but at present we can only ship USPS First Class International.

So… Etsy has a shipping calculator... But it seems to favor heavier items in some ways.

Proposed Solution:

We package and weigh the items, find the best carrier to deliver them.

I ship USPS Priority Mail, or UPS +++ Unless it I am shipping OVERSEAS if I can get you a cheaper rate on multiple purchases. I try to ship your item to you just as soon as it is paid and cleared.

I do not ship on the weekends as there is not postal service...

---VAT and other customs charges are not included in your purchase price---
See article:

**I ship First Class International for all locations outside of North America**
+++ We offer expedited shipping options! So if you need an item for a specific date it is a good idea to let me know at checkout- +++

However- you can save money when you purchase more than one item:
For example – a single T-Shirt to Canada is $9 Two T-Shirts to Canada is $11…

And and other items follow a similar logic…

***** You can always ask me to confirm shipping charges before I ship your items and give you the option to cancel your order by leaving me a note at checkout in the "notes to seller" field. *****

When your item ships, I email a tracking number to the email on your order.

Because we like to keep our customers happy(and because it is just correct and we have integrity), we combine shipping for multiple purchases, and we will refund the difference to your PayPal account.
Additional policies and FAQs
--------------------------------------- F A Qs ----------------------------------------

We can talk about this.

You most certainly can!!! (This kind of thought is in fact, encouraged!!)

Etsy will let you put in a different ship to address- please leave me a note at checkout that you would like me to include with the item so that they know it is a gift from you.

Your receipts are available electronically; We do not include them with your purchase. Etsy will provide a field where you can enter the shipping address you would like the package to go to.

Just make sure to leave me a message at the same time saying what you would like a gift message to read.

We do not include invoices inside your package (unless certain International, customs law mandates that they be included on the OUTSIDE of the package now)…

– They are available through Etsy only.

*** It should be noted- however, that ALL INTERNATIONAL orders, especially of late, require additional shipping information and full disclosure of package contents and price paid for each item. This makes the overall anonymity of the ‘gift’ rather difficult. It also does not make provision for exemption from taxes or other fees. The best method for having a gift shipped (so long as you are local to the end-receiver of this gift) might be to have the gift shipped to you and then reship the present. This is more expensive to be sure; however, it does permit the gift’s surprise.

-Sorry, we do not offer gift-wrapping…

As our brief bios might indicate we have other work and this is a labor of love in the form of a side-venture. This is most obviously reflected in the 48-72 hour turn around to email inquiries and Etsy conversations. Our most sincere apologies in advance for any delay in responding to your inquiries.
