About

It Started With a Wedding

Like many of you, I wanted my wedding to be as handmade as possible. My wedding invitations were carved from linoleum blocks and hand-printed, the program was designed by me in Photoshop (my first love), I made jewelry for me and my bridesmaids, and our thank you cards were sent out with adorable little handmade magnets attached as keepsakes from our special day. Soon, friends and friends-of-friends started contacting me to create invites, magnets and jewelry for them, and a business was born.

SomethingBlueStudios existed as a wedding business for many years - until our daughter was born. I went from being obsessed with weddings to being obsessed with her. I loved using my Photoshop skills to embellish photos of her and create little story pages. I didn't know that what I was doing had a name, and that others were doing it too. So, in 2004 the focus of my business changed from weddings to documenting life through this new thing called digital scrapbooking.

My website, somethingbluestudios.com, has existed since 2004 as a place where people could buy digital kits and embellishments for their photos. Part of my business has always been magnets and photo jewelry. When I first opened shop on etsy, I had an overabundance of jewelry supplies. Although my SomethingBlueStudios etsy shop was meant to be a shop for digital downloads, I decided to list some supplies to de-stash. The supplies sold really well, so I just went with it and continued to unload all of my extra supplies here. I got so busy selling supplies that I never did get around to listing any digital scrapbooking kits!

Fast forward to 2014 - I finally decided it was time to get my stash of graphic digital supplies listed here on etsy. I hate clutter so I opened a new store dedicated solely to digital downloads. I called it SomethingBlueToo:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/SomethingBlueToo

SomethingBlueToo features high quality digital downloads for graphic designers, photographers, and digital scrapbookers. I love creating with Photoshop and I think it shows in my designs and attention to detail. I love scrapbooking with my stuff and I think you will too!

I also gave my magnets and my jewelry separate shops:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/MagneticNortheast

https://www.etsy.com/shop/PrettySweetShoppe

Magnetic Northeast is a place where you can find awesome gifts like map magnets, calendar magnets, and custom photo magnets. My personal favorites are the postmark magnets that commemorate special days, events an places. Check them out!

PrettySweet is a place for "everything else." I've been selling some lovely wood letterpress printers' blocks here, along with my photo jewelry and other handmade items.

I've been so fortunate to be able to grow my little SomethingBlue empire (haha) here on etsy. Thanks so much for visiting, and please let me know how I can help you embellish YOUR life!

Cheers,
Danielle

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge an additional shipping fee for each item?

There is no longer an "additional item" charge on my listings. Everything ships for one flat rate of $3.89 First Class - so the more you buy, the better deal the shipping. Priority is a flat rate of $6.89. This has proven to work out better for my customers, who often buy 5-10 items at a time. Those "additional item" fees can really add up. So I eliminated them.

What is the difference between a fully adjustable bangle and an expandable bangle?

I list all my stainless steel bangles as "expandable" only because that is what they do - they expand over your wrist but then snap right back into place. You can not adjust them smaller or larger - they have too much tensile strength and memory. My non-steel bangles are adjustable. They can be smooshed smaller (for lack of a better word!) and expanded and they'll stay put. There are no stainless steel bangles that are adjustable. That's why I offer mine in a variety of sizes.

For international orders, will you mark my package as a gift?

No, sorry. The United States government requires a customs "declaration of value" form on all parcels leaving our country. Your country may levy a tax on any imported goods. Etsy sellers are not responsible for any VAT or other duties you might incur when you import goods into your country. Please check with your Customs Office and/or Postal Service if you are concerned about possible tariffs. You can calculate your amount here: www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation. I cannot declare as "gift" any items you purchase. Thank you for understanding and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Tell me more about your shipping timeframes and policies?

Supplies will ship same or next day via USPS First Class mail (or Priority, if you choose to upgrade). Whether you use Paypal of you use direct checkout, I will ship to the address your provided to Etsy. If you've provided an incorrect address, the cost of reshipping the item falls to you. I will reship if the item is returned to me, or you may choose to repurchase and then I will refund you if/when the wayward item is returned to me.

I do tend to ship super-fast, so if you need to change your mind about any part of the order, try to catch me quick! :)

Gift wrapping and packaging

I use recycled cardboard (for backing) and bubble wrap. It's not pretty, but your supplies will be well-protected. I think that's what really counts. Plus it allows me to keep my costs reasonably low. No organza and wrapping paper here. Just great supplies packaged well.

Sizing details

All sizing details are within the description on each listing, and often in the photos as well. Please be sure to read/view carefully!

Tell me more about your return policy?

If you need to return or exchange an item for any reason, please contact me via the link provided in your order details. Please do not email. I will only see your message if it comes through etsy. Any custom design work is final sale. *Refunds will be processed once the product is returned to me safely and in pre-sale condition, minus the original shipping charges. Any requests for refunds must be submitted within 7 days of receiving the merchandise. The items must also be posted back to me within those 7 days. Please include your name and order number with the return, or I will not know who you are and I will not be able to process the refund. If the refund request is due to an error made by me, I will refund the shipping charges as well.

Do you offer any discounts or coupon codes?

Yes! While I try to keep my prices low to begin with, I do offer the following:

FREE FIRST CLASS SHIPPING on orders of $75 or more (before shipping). Use the coupon code SHIPFREE at checkout. $3.89 value.

DISCOUNTED PRIORITY SHIPPING on orders $75 or more. If you need Priority shipping, you do not need a coupon code - you will automatically be upgraded to Priority. $3 value.

FREE PRIORITY SHIPPING on orders of $100 or more. Please use the code SHIPFREE at checkout.

Please note, I will not be able to apply these codes retroactively - they MUST be used at checkout. Sorry for any inconvenience.
